Thumbs up Homelink visor installed in L

Thanks to Kerrdog for hooking me up with the part. I installed a homelink visor with the memo feature in my L tonight. Now I can use the console for something else and my garage door opens from further away I will try to post some pics later in the week. It is just a matter of switching out visors on the 02's, it plugs right in. Kerrdog is working on finding out what works for his 01 also.

That will be cool if it works on the 01's! Just P&P? If not, how about some details.
Thanks

Yes it is just plug & play. I like this a lot better than having the remote in the overhead console. Give John Kerr a call at 1-800-433-0018 and he will hook you up. He has a 01 so I am sure he can fix you up with the 01's.

Can you give a "ballpark" figure for the price??? Sounds like an excellent mod!

Give John Kerr a call at 800-433-0018 to find out exactly. He said he was gonna stock a few of them to be available for immediate shipping. I think you would be looking around $280-$300. He gets them to you as reasonable as possible, I can assure you of that.

What exactly is Homelink? And, do you have any pics of it in your truck?

I will try and post some pics tomorrow night(Thurs.) I do not know of a website that would have any pics of one on a expy or supercrew. You might ask over on the supercrew forum. I will try to get some pics tomorrow night though.

Here are some sample pics out of a expy. The three buttons on the visor are the homelink. The one I got from John also has a memo record feature.

Update,

The 02 visor comes with the "Memo Note" feature as Mark has noted above and is an exact replacement for the factory visor. Price should be around $260 plus shipping.

The 01 visor that should be an exact replacement is on order and I'll know if it will work for sure shortly. It will not have the "Memo Note" feature but will have the dual visors that the 02's do not come with and should be a few $$ cheaper also.

I'll post my findings asap.

SCREW 2002 XLT - No Lighted Vanity Mirrors

How would I hook up the HomeLink Visor if my vanity mirrors are not currently lighted? Is the wiring harness actually there but not being used on my current unlighted visor mirrors?

thx
jeff

wifes got one

it does your security gate opener, you can get a reciever for your home security in order to disable it coming in the garage, thus you can have your garage door wired to the house and it opens your garage!!! plus the memo minder is cool for leaving those special messages for mama...of course you get those wierd looks from your teenage kids when your wife forgets to erase it and they take the car to the video store

I would guess it is wired. I'm pretty sure they would wire all of them. Just unscrew the visor and look. It is just a matter of pulling three screws and then you can put it right back.
