Question Bogart Wheel Users...

Hey guys, has anyone installed the Bogart Lightning wheels yet? I had a set rushed to us, so we could hopefully make next weekends NMRA race, and I'm having a BIG problem with them and need some input.

I've previously had 3 different sets of custom 15s on the truck, so I had already shaved the calipers down about 1/8". But these wheels are not even close to fitting. Out of desperation to make this event, I had to cut off the dust shields and then take an additional 1/2" off the calipers. I just ground through and hit the caliper piston, and the rims still don't clear!

We are going to be selling these wheels, but there's no way I'm selling them if they require so much grinding that they will put the customer at risk of injury. If so, we'll get Bogarts to redesign them. I was hoping someone here has installed them, to see if they had to take off the same amount of material, or if I'm just nuts .

Well, the fronts are on, but I was surprised that you have to grind the front calipers and brackets down too. You have to take a decent amount off, but it's just on some ribbing, nothing that sacrifices the integrity of the front set up.

I'd still like to hear from people who have done the rears though. There's gotta be someone out there running these rims. I can't imagine that these rims are being sold like this, requiring such extensive modification to the rear brakes.

Sal if you measure across the inside of the back side of the rim what do you get for a measurement.

I have a set but haven't tried grind my calipers yet. I came up with 14 3/8 inches when I measured mine.

I know Jim and Johnny both run them on there trucks, maybee you couls talk to them. Maybee they shipped you the wrong rims.

Yikes...Sals in trouble now...j/k :o

why would they be failed on tech? Don't remember seeing anything in any of my rule books that said you cant modify the brakes, most the limitations are related to engine mods ect.

Even in the safety section i can't seem to find anything abotu shaving calipers. Please set me straight and post me the page number of the NHRA, IHRA rule book pages.

Thanks in advance
Brandon

PS very interested in hearing the response as i plan to try to make some events this year.
