Talking Happiness is .............

I know a hundred people have probably written this, but I had to. Today was the first day in around 2 months that I have gotten to drive the L. Here in MI the weather sucks during the winter, so I have been driving a 4 cylinder ranger as my second vehicle. So today I put in my reprogrammed JLP chip and 6# pulley and all I can say is sweet Jesus this puppy feels good. The only thing better would be having a Lightning chic by my side. So thank God for the Lightning and let the *** kicking commence!!!!

Finding out the Company you work for is going to lay off up to 200 people while they give $1,000,000,000.00 every year as a donation to the Naval Academy in honor of our CEO. And the same CEO is the one that had all the failed financial ventures that cost this company millions, but not him.
Continually making new managerial positions and promoting others to higher managerial positions while telling the working class we need to do more with less, so we can be competetive in today's market place.
having the company you work for tell you that they "recommend" you take their B/S (not Bachelor of Science) "Voluntary" retirement package, and seeing 2 managers say that it's a good plan, and say they will take it. THEN after everyone, thinking that since the 2 managers took the plan to set example, find out that once you've committed to it you can't back out, and then find out that the 2 managers that supposedly took the plan really didn't and are getting promoted to Sr. Vice Pres. and Asst VP. And refusing to let some of these employees stay an additional 5 DAYS which would increase their retirement a small amount, even tho' the company told them to retire but you have to stay until we say you can leave.
Having the company select "Task Teams" of employees to select who and how we dump people so there is no question about having "participation" from the employees in regard to layoffs so they aren't so evil. They give us the knife and say pick who YOU would like to cut. That is the WE concept. No Boundaries or Boundaryless means anyone that is not a manager is elligible to be cut.
"That is just the way it's done up there."

Life is a bowl of cherries but someday someone will choke to death on a pit.
I worked for this MD based utility for 21 years as a career with retirement expectations, The closer I get to retirement age to more I feel threatened. This is the company that said to represent yourself. You don't need a union. Right. Hope all the NO voters are happy now. There's nothing like your own business.

Dr.D,

Welcome to the 'oughts' ... They sure are different than
the '90's and the 80's ....

At least at my company, the 1400 they 'non-voluntaryed'
could claim NAFTA training benefits since they moved
all the manufacturing to Mexico and China.

In a service based economy, the low cost provider is king ...
That means cost not quality is ruling the roost today.....

Good luck on retireing

Cliff

But we are turning into the "reversed" pyramid. Top heavy. Business has the bad habit of cutting the grass from the roots up. When in reality they could offload a few of their worthless VPs and SVPs and save 50-100 jobs that really are needed. Oh well, I guess I'll go smoke up the L's tires to let out some frustration.
