X Plan Not Allowed On LIGHTNINGS

I emailed a few dealers here in Georgia and i got a reply back this morning from one and he said:

"Ford Motor Company doesn't allow the sale of SVT vehicles under X, A, or D plans."

Whats up with this? Is the dealer wrong becasue i thought it was allowed on SVT vehicles? I did think the dealer could deny it but he said Ford doesn't allow it on them. Any input on this??

Dealer is full of crap. Acceptance of the different plans is at the discretion of the dealer.

Report the dealer to FoMoCo.

They are out and out lying to you.

The only car that no plans are allowed on is the T-bird....(oh and those Aston Martin's as well)

actually if you call the X-plan assistance line they will tell you no on SVT and Superduty's ,I called when I was looking cause the dealer had said no. The Dealers giving the X-plan are just doing it for the business. Look around you will find 1. I guess the dealers see that alittle money is better than none at all.

On X plan on the Lightning the dealer makes over $1100 on a vehicle he doesn't have to floor plan or advertise, and that's if you pay cash. If you finance through the dealer and/or buy an extended warrantee he makes a lot more. Of course that's $2500 less than if he gets sticker for it. If I were a dealer I wouldn't sell for X plan, either, if the demand were strong, but gas prices are going up again, and if L. sales taper off maybe some dealers were be more inclined to honor X plan.

Like was said before, its up to the individual dealers discretion if they want to participate in the x plan or not. I bought mine on the x plan, but the dealer also tacked on $1000 to "cover their "SVT" licensing fee." Each dealer has pay a $15,000 per year licensing fee just to sell SVT products.(This is how it was explained to me) Thats the main reason they dont come off sticker, in fact some of them around here were asking $3,000-$5,000 OVER sticker!!!
Dont get in a big rush, look around(maybe even out of state) and you'll find a dealership willing to do it with no fuss. Good Luck!

Go to Gene Evans Ford in Union City just south of Atlanta, that's where I bought my L on the X plan a year ago. My salesman's name was Chris Payne.... very nice guy. One other salesman said flat out that they would NOT do an X plan. Chris asked the sales manager and he approved it. Could also be that they had 5 on the lot...

I had a friend who just bought an '02 L in PA about a month ago and he used his X-Plan PIN. Keep shopping and you'll find one.

I would recommend you report that dealer to Ford Mr. Skank.

Dealer's CANNOT force you to pay extra BS fees like that, in order to give you one of the plans prices. The dealers are compensated by Ford when plan pricing is used. It is a BIG NO NO for dealers to do that. Who knows, you might even be able to get that grand back!

Oh and the licensing fee is 10 grand, not 15. And many dealers get around paying for that.

thanks everyone, I knew he was wrong unless something had changed. I got a few more emails back since then from other dealers but none so far will allow it on the lightnings. I'll try and contact Gene Evans Ford and see what they say. Anyone else know of a dealership in Georgia or near by states that will honor it?

thanks
justin

95 Saleen S351 may be on to something. I bought my 02 under X-plan and next day I was going over the paper work and checking all figures. Things just didn't add up. I was quoted 28,831.41 + Sales tax and tag. There was an unaccounted for 479.00 added to the price. I called the finance manager and asked for a detailed breakdown of the CASH PRICE for the truck. Come to find out they put a 479.00 dealer get ready fee. (I thought they stopped using this rip off in the 70's). I remined them that according to FordDirect.com they were not to add any additional fees for X-plan, not to mention it wasn't on my origional contract. Got a call right away from the sales manager who said it was a mistake made by the computer and they would refund the 479.00, which they did.
