Powercooler?
Powercooler?
Hey guys what is a powercooler for? Is there any reason to have one for the street? The cooler on JLs site has what looks like a switch, What is this for and where does it all hook up the cooler and the switch? Sorry for all the questions but I have no idea on where things go.
Think of the power cooler as a huge intercooler that you can easily add ice/coldwater too. It mounts in place of the battery (usually).........some people mount them in the bed (supercooler).

The power cooler is geared more for the strip than the street. JL has 2 power coolers, a smaller one that fits in place of the windshield washer resevour. The larger one you have to relocate the battery or put the cooler in the bed.
On the street you would melt the ice in just a minute or two, thats why it is more for the drag strip where you can change the ice between runs.

The power cooler is the smaller of the two and mounts in place of the battery. The super cooler mounts in the bed of the truck. They both run inline with the system using the pump that already exists within the intercooler system.
Mine is piped this way: Resevoir tank, lower cooler(the one below the bumper), pump(as stated before, existing), thru tubing in powercooler in bed, upper intercooler(under the 'charger), back to the tank. In the staging lanes the intercooler pump is run constantly to cool down the entire contents of the intercooler circuit(approx 2 gals) and ice is added and water drained as needed. The small cooler under the hood will completely melt the ice and leave water lukewarm after each pass. The larger(double size actually) powercooler in the bed will still be fairly cold and have a few icecubes floating around after the pass telling me it did it's job the entire 1/4 mile. Hope that answers your questions.

4D thunder your the man. Thanks so much to everyone. This clearifies everything for me. We should publish this thread. Call it powercooler for dummies or at least me. Thanks again.
