Basically nothing to wear out. All of the high quality aftermarket ones have the shaft riding on quality bearings just like the stock Ford unit. Even the ones that use plastic bushings can be rebuild when excessive wear does occur. During my former design career I got to review almost every Carb and throttle body that was available. In most cases they all do what they were intended to do and what sets them apart is their physical appearance. Yes some are finely calibrated but those features can be lost on the average customer. Just don't accept any cracked or damaged items.
