Anyone know of a place i can get a SLOTTED L grill for my truck? It should fit right? I think they look great, much better than my honeycomb grill, any info. is appreciated, thanks--medic

 

Check the classifieds on here or maybe E-bay. I have seen them for sale quite often.

 

which year are they on? 2000 and up?

 

They are on 01 and up Lightnings. I have a 00 and switched to the 01 upper and lower grills so im guessing that it will fit you truck fine.

 

where did u get it and how much? was it painted too? do they make those in wedgewood blue? or would i have to paint it? thanks~!

 

is it possible to just replace the "grill" or honeycomb part of my front end assembly with that of a 01 or 02 L? or do you have to replace the whole front piece that goes around the headlights and so on...?

 

All i know is that they come in black only to my knowledge,, but i think a few people on this site have painted theirs, think i remeber seeing a white one here.

I got my 01 grill from www.fordpartsonline.com the upper grill they said only comes with the whole piece that goes around the headlights and it comes painted to match the truck.

The grill itself will not just fir right in. This is why the '99-'00 street scenes grill don't fit '01-'02 trucks, unless you do some work on them first. The best way to go would be to get the entire upper piece.

 

so, i have to buy the whole front piece then? can they paint to match MY color, a "non-L" truck? how much? and will this fit my truck, thanks, i know i ask alot of questions...

 

I was looking at a red '02 yesterday. I thought the grill's were dark gray now...can any '02 owner's verify this?? 99-01 were black.
I think they can be replaced. Several people have upgraded the 99/00's to the 01/02 style. I know for a fact that the bottom grill on a 99 is just screwed in, looked at mine today while changing the oil.

 

The '01-'02 grills are dark grey. They will NOT fit an L of the '99-'00 years. They are to big. From what I understand all the people that have replaced the grill have replaced the entire upper piece, not just the grille. This is what I am getting out of this and I have a '00 streetscene grill in my '01, but it had to either be stretched to fit the outside lines or squeezed into the grill that was already there. I painted the grill that was there flat black first and you can't tell it's there.

 

OK, thanks.....I had no idea they were different size. Glad I wasn't seeing things with the dark gray grills.
