How much would it cost.....
to have a shop put in my Densos. I'm really not in the mood to tackle anything. I just spent all of this weekend putting in MAC headers in my friend's Z28(in pic below) and want these things in. How much would it be for a shop to gap and install these. Just give me a ballpark before I start calling around. And is it ok to put these in while my chip is currently on it's way to JL.
Thanks, Bri
Thanks, Bri
I'd do them all day for $150. If you can install headers on anything you should have no problem changing the plugs in a couple of hours. The first time I did it, on my 2001 L it took an hour & 45 minutes, with 30 minutes spent on the 3rd plug back on the driver's side. The second time I did it, on my 2002 L, it took an hour & 10 minutes, 25 minutes on the passenger's side & 45 minutes on the driver's side. You'll need a 3/8" rachet, a good assortment of 3/8" extensions, a 3/8" universal (swivel), a 5/8' Spark Plug socket, a 1/4" universal, a few 1/4 " extensions (a 10" is especially helpful), a 7 mm 1/4" drive socket, & a 3/8"x1/4" adapter. I also recommend an extendable magnet as required equipment. Take your time, you'll get frustrated if your in a hurry. Once you get a coil pack loose, gently twist it to release it from the plug & pull it out. The only thing I removed other than the coil packs & plugs was a slip-on rubber hose over the rear plugs on the passenger side. Good luck.
Lightning#838,
I got quotes from $150-$175 locally. I live in Sunrise and did the plugs today(in driveway and sun), not bad at all with all the right tools(see gallery pics). I am also going to put on a 4lb. pulley, mass air and my reburned chip soon. My chip and pulley should be here Monday. You want to get together (preferrably in that nice garage in the background) and wrench these mods out Sunday? I have all the tools gathered up for the install.
Let me know'
Eric

Sorry, don't know how you got an AOL mail address for me. I haven't had AOL for a while. My e-mail is "sll85@attbi.com". Did you get my e-mail? I sent it through the board here. I received my 4lb. pulley yesterday and am still waiting on my chip. I'm pretty p*ssed because I sent it for a reburn via Fed-Ex last Tuesday with a return Fed-Ex inside.
Owheelies, you have mail
Mecca, can't help you there, got mine used. But I have heard good things about Plantation Ford. Sawgrass is ok to deal with. They have a good body shop. But don't go to World Ford, in Pembroke Pines. They suck, period. MSRP, no deals.

mecca - Sawgrass would not sell me one on X-plan. But I think it has a lot to do with timing. Try just before the end of the month. Dealers seem to be more flexable at that time. I finally got mine on X-plan at Plantation Ford but they refused at first so I walked. They called me two days later on the last day of the month and sold it too me on X-plan.
Man, there seems to be a lot of L's in S. Florida area.
BTW, let me know when you guys get together to do the mods and plug change. I would like to watch and maybe pick up some pointers. Hell I will be the tool jockey for you guys! I'm too darn old to do any serious wrenching
