Question Underdrive Pulleys ?

Tell me about underdrive pulleys. Power gains? Loss of alternator output? Lights going dim? Overloads with trailer lights? Loss of heater output to cab? Engine over heating problems? Is the A/C underpowered? Is a smaller drive belt needed? How many pully choices are out there?

Thanks in Advance, TIA

I'ld do a search, want to do a search, but it's still not working.

I think sagittarius was talking about underdrive pullies, like is popular on Mustangs. They slow the accessories (water pump, alternator, A/C) down to free up some HP.

Yeah, Yeah, what 01Lightning said. No blower required.

You can't use underdrives on a Lightning because the crank pulley/balancer has to be smaller to slow everything down, and since the blower pulley attaches to it, there would be no way to attach the blower pulley.

Yes you can use underdrive pulleys. The only trick is that you must also use a different supercharger crank pulley, and you must have them both made as a custom set. ASP can and will custom make them. I talked with ASP about this. they said that they had allready done it, but the only proplem was that he had to make two different crank pulleys one for '99-'00 and one for '01-'02. They didn't think that there would be enough demand for them and that it wasn't worth it to make them. But they did say that they would make one off custom sets. They didn't give a price so it might be expensive. Maybe if we can get enough people intrested ASP will start making them, or maybe we can get a better price if we buy 10 or more??

4rts2nv,

I would be interested in trying some. Let us know if you get anything going with ASP, or I could look into it if any one wants. I live about 30 minutes from thier shop so I could bring my truck over there.

I don't know how much difference it would make, but couldn't you still use the waterpump and alternator pullies?
