Question Muscle Car Help Gt 500

Hey guys my father just bought a red 69 Shelby Gt 500 and I was wondering if you guys could help me with the paint. Im not sure what the best way t make it shine would be it kind of has a dull shine it doesnt look bad but it shows its age. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use on it or the procedure I should go through to wax it? Let me know Im ready to start waxing.
Thanks for your help, MIke
P.S. And I thought the L was fun to drive. lol

Well waxxing it won't do to much if its really sun faded. Does the car have clear on it??? If it does you can take some real light grit sand paper(2000-1500 depends on how flat you want the car) And lightly sand with water then take a buffer and buff it out. I use 3m perfect it III for a rubbing compound. The after you get all the haze out take a foam pad and use finish compound to take the swirl marks out. Then you can wax the car. You don't have to sand the car though you could just buff it to make the paint come around fairly well. Anymore quetions just post

If it's stock paint I don't think they used clear back in '69. Also if it is the stock paint it is probably getting a little thin by now, so if it were my car I would take it to a professional for detailing. That car is worth some bucks and with stock paint it's worth even more. Don't mess it up. Good Luck

3M makes some stuff called FineseIt(sp?). It comes in a clear bottle and the contents are a bright white color. Worked real well a couple of times on my older brothers 68 candy apple red mustang. He was never real good about keeping anything nice, so I used to clean it for him periodically. I also used it on my 64-1/2 once and it worked great.
