question for JDM traction bar users...

i need to hear from people with the following mods:

chip/filter
JDM bars
pulley
shift kit
slicks

what is your best 60ft? how did you achieve it?
what rpm's did you launch at?

it's been raining a lot here lately, and even when the local track is open, they dont have a test and tune night... so i usually get 2-3 passes in.. i don't want to waste all my runs by testing launching techniques..

i'm looking for something to give me a good starting point.

thanks!

Brooks,

Just go from the standard burnout/launching technique I have written about many times...

Try to go around the water box if possible and back into it and coat the slicks. Pull forward out of the water box, and break torque it up to 4000-4500RPM (in "D" with OD off). When you can see smoke start to come from the slicks, begin a slow five count. When you hit five, slowly release the brakes and slowly as well the gas as to not hit the rev limiter. Pull up and pre-stage the truck. Torque it to about 1000-1200RPM, and slowly slip the brake untill you roll forward and stage the truck. Tree comes down, off the brake and roll agressively into the gas.

That is what I do and was able to pull several low 1.8 60's with a C/F/P(2#), 3.73 gears, and Cal-Tracs at a track not known for the best prep (Lone Star Raceway Park).

clonetek, my truck does better when I idle into a full stage and THEN torque up the rpm's to 1200-1400...( no flame, just my suggestion: Lboy)

I agree but stay around 1000rpm on the launch, I mat my trottle since I hook very well. If you go from 1000rpm you can get a good flash on the stock stall convertor and get some good times.

I have about the same mods your talking about just from different tuners. I get 1.68-1.73 almost everytime doing this on a stock stall convertor......

Anything over 1000 you acutally get the convertor to start pulling and it will not flash, it will just go. It will slow you down some if the lock up has started before WOT....

thanks guys.. thats what i wanted to know ICULOKN..

i know how to launch the truck,(without traction bars) but didn't know what the limitations of the stock stall were.

Lightning Boy: thanks for the help, i usually get 1.88 60fts without the traction bars, going from idle & flooring the pedal.
i was unsure of how high i could raise my rpms with the addition of traction bars.

maybe one day i can go to the track & test out different launches.
idle, 1000, 1500, 2000 ect..

I do that as well when im just messing around. But when I'm bracket raceing, I keep my technique the same throughout times trials and eleminations. Sometimes you dont have a chance to torque it up when bracket raceing befor the tree comes down. You could end up launch to soft and not be able to run your dial, or launch to hard and either run to fast or spin. But again, you have do some testing to see what works for you and your truck.
