what's p with these f1 eagles..not impressed

i had to replace an f1 eagle tire on front drivers side 2 weeks ago. cha ching! 300 bucks. brought in L to ford dealer because back driver side tire wasn't holding pressure. they said it had a screw in it that wasn't patchable. i'm pissed. another 300 bucks to replace. no way!

did any of you guys buy road hazard insurance on your f1 eagles. how much does it cost? i starting to think i should have. any recommendations on how i can get around paying for another tire?

two new f1 eagles in two weeks. i'm thinking of selling the other two tires and putting some wal-mart specials on her.

The only problem I've had with mine is they seem to lose the tread very quickly. Maybe that has something to do with my heavy foot.

$300? I believe www.tirerack.com has them for $189.

Go to a Local GOODYEAR or Gemini Tire store, $30-$40 a tire for road hazzard protection, come time for a new tire or two a simple slice in the sidewall will work wonders on replacement....

Yup ASVTFordBoy is correct, tire rack has them on sale for $189!!
add about 15 for shipping and about 12bucks for mount and balance brings you up to around $216... 300 is WAY to much.

Post TIRE WARRANTY

I bought mine from discount tire for 200 they matched tire racks prices. But the warranty is pro rated on mileage or tread depth. not sure how that works. or how good it is for like $50.00!!

I don't see how getting a screw in the tire has anything to do with the quality of the tire.

The problem with getting a screw or something in these tires is how it is fixed. Pretty much anything other than a patch (and correct me if I am wrong, it has to be a certain type of patch) will decrease the speed rating of the tire. If you plug the tire, you run the risk of throwing the plug out at high speed. I have one tire plugged, and one tire with a nail in it. Those luckily were the back ones and have lost the most tread. My plan is to buy some new tires then do the traditional smoking tire shots to finish the injured tires off. I will also make sure I buy the road hazard on the new tires.

thin tires

I've run a lot of different tires on my 99L and the F1's were the worst by far. They exhibited a lot of chunking on autocross tracks. They dont grip very well either. The biggest problem though is that they are just very THIN. Take a look at the sidewall and carcass thickness on an F1 compared to most premium tires. No wonder they puncture easily!
Of course, they do have one advantage: price.

I guess it all depends on what you want.

On my truck the Street tires dont last very long so spending more money on diff tires makes no sense. I have diff wheels and tires for drag racing and autocross/road course

Discount tire here has 100% replacement insurance... NO pro rata

something other than F1s

What other brands have you guys tried. I need a new set but I can't make up my mind on what kind to get. I want to stay with the stock size. Any info anyone can relay on there experiences, overall quality and price would be appreciated.
