It does run. I believe it made it's debut at Autorama in Detroit not Chicago- but I may be wrong. Don't look for it at a dealer near you anytime soon. The Ranger is due for a redesign.

Anyone else notice it says its the Lightning engine but the intake is on the side of the blower not ontop. Also never thought of painting the blower to match the truck i think that looks good.

Ranger based "Thunder" on TV

Seems like a few months ago Motorweek, autoweek had a white "Thunder" supposedly now available from dealers with bodykit like lightning, but extended cab, I think. Special tires, wheels, suspension, but only had intake & exhaust for engine mods? Never have seen one in person. Anybody?

It was a pretty sweet little ride. I checked it out for a while at the Autorama. Yes those rears are huge, he got them widened at a place similar to http://www.weldcraft.net

Vin.......you are right, the intake does enter from the driver side not the top. I couldn't find the owner while I walked by so I couldn't ask him about it.

Yes they are selling "Thunder" Rangers now. The complete package consits of ground effects a different hood and exhaust. It adds a whopping 5hp over stock.

Red face

Yea..the "thunder" supposely a 207HP ranger available in Extra cab only.
many people were mad at the fact that Ford never released a V8 Ranger . I am actually glad that SVT choose the roomer Lightning anyway.
I had a V8 ranger and the headroom was the biggest drawback of the truck in a standard cab.
For those of you that need alot of Music, they will also release a ford ranger with a "tremor package" = 475 watts of BOOM.
lets hope that finds it way in the 2003 Lightning, lol
I am still wondering what the new body style changes will bring, I hope they build on the Lightning Rod style, add alittle curves and maybe a 3 valve head.
We can only hope,
John O
