first 1/4 mile experience...
What a fun day is was! Drove 2 hours to LACR (high desert, Palmdale, CA) and met up with some SoCal L guys - thanks Jay Lincoln - who were friendly and helpful; thanks guys!
It was freakin' cold, never over 50 degrees, cloudy and windy.
I had never run on a strip. I was running stock F1s @27 psi, mods as below.
First run was best reaction time: 6.09, with a 14.2 E/T, last run was best E/T @ 14.03 with worst reaction: .893 (my signature shows times and mph corrected to sea level).
I was happy with the 60' times, 2.1s and 2.2, despite adrenaline dumps and subsequent poor launch = wheel spin. Man, after the first run my legs would not stop shaking
Some guys from National Drag Bike Monthly spotted the lady I was with and asked her model on a cool Hayabusa drag bike - she loved it and so did the 25 or so guys ogling the shoot
Finally, thanks to ALL OF YOU for this board and your input, stories and humor which has helped me to get out there and have mucho fun with the L

wolff:
Way to jump in with both feet
and legs!
I'm 62 and just started drag racing back in June of 01--that's 2001, not 1901, Rusty. It's certainly addictive and fun.
Congrats on your ets--you won't believe how much they will drop with the mods............

I missed gettin' pix of her shoot, but those guys PROMISED to Email some pics... soon as I get them, you will
p.s. gotta love it - she painted her toenails Tru Blue and added lightning bolt decals!
I actually also had my first 1/4 mile run last Friday, since it was so full, i only had a chance to run once. I got a 13.9 with full weight and basically stock. Really made me happy considering i have 57000 miles on my truck.

So even the L guys can get nerved up on thier first run? All the horses don't help to calm the nerves?
I ran my first and only time at VMP (Norfolk rally) last year. I'm hoping that the Magnacharger will buy me a couple seconds, so the L's are easier to see in front of me. Last your it was just a blurr!

Brad, it was nice meeting you and Amy.
I'm glad you had fun. You got to meet some of the guys who drag race their trucks regularly. Marcus and Dale race more frequently than I do, but I enjoy it a lot.
I've got to work on my reaction times. My 1.02 won't take home any trophys. LOL I was working more on getting the truck to go 60'.

Hey Brad, as I said in my thread with the pictures, it was great meeting you, and seeing your awesome looking L.
With times like those that you have, I see 12's in your near future!
once again, sorry I missed getting pictures of your truck.. and I'm even more sorry for missing that photo shoot on the Hayabusa!!
Hey, next time, you can have her pose with the Lightnings Of So.CAL!
Take it easy, and we'll keep you informed on our next trip out. (which I think will be Carlsbad!) (Jay, you better be able to make it, you deserve that 12 sec. slip!)
