Unhappy The L's gone....

I sold my 01L in preparation for my new 2003 Cobra that I ordered... The transmission let go on the L about a week ago so I stripped all the mods and took it in to the dealer to have it replaced.. They popped a new one in and didn't ask the first question.. Frankly I was amazed they got the tranny shipped to the dealer in one day. For that, I'm gratefull. You can see by my sig that I wasn't deep into the mods, compared to some people. I'm sure I'll get flamed but there's just too many durability issues with the L. I'm not prepared to anty up 6 or 7 thousand to get it
to hold up, both engine and tranny.. Stock, it's just too gutless compared to my other vehicles.
I like the Cobra, mostly due to it's supercharging which I've grown addicted to with the L and secondly due to it coming from the factory with 4340 H-beam Manley rods. Maybe Ford learned something anyway. I got X-plan on the Cobra so it's not costing me much more than the L did.. There will be nothing except fond memories left from the L. I've no regrets.. I've 2 brand new stock tires and some mods left to sell.. They'll be posted in the "for sale" section. God bless the fastest pickup know to man!:-D

I am sorry to hear you got rid of the L, but am happy your getting a new Cobra. We will have to race some time this year.

I agree with you on the durability of the Lightning, especialy the connecting rods and the week transmisions. Even though I have had zero problems with the engine and trans, I am still upgrading both of them.

Just think with just a chip and pulley imagine what the Cobra will be able to do.

Good luck with the new ride.

Don

How many -stock- Lightnings had trouble with their tran's and engines Don.

Undy -- What are your other cars if a Lightning is gutless? lol

My other "daily driver" is a stroked 700+ horsepower 496ci roller cammed 69 Stingray... That's what I mean by "comparatively" under powered.. low 10s without the 300hp nitrous fogger triggered....heh, heh

Hey:

Enjoy your snake. Congrats on what is certain to be an awesome car. With a Ford in charge again, they won't be building them like that for very long.

My advice would be to take it very very easy on the IRS. Let's also hope Ford has improved the coolant flow around the number 5 piston.

I wonder how long it's going to take you to run into the wrong Lightning with your 03 Cobra and see quickly fading tail lights?? I got money on you will be missing your L!
