Coletti, who is known to engage in a little verbal engine revving, said he took exception to
Chrysler executives who claim the SRT-10 would replace Ford's F-150 Lightning as the top
performance pickup.
"While you're trying to dethrone the Lightning," Coletti said. "the GT40 will reduce your Viper
to a status somewhere between a garter snake and an earthworm."

Im kinda sad to see that SVE/SVT aren't looking to make the last year of the second generation Lightning go out with a big bang. But I guess when you hold the crown for four years, you look to take other crowns.

 

Well... there's good and bad to that... there's the selfish side of me that doesn't want the lightning to get better while I'm still paying for mine. =)
The other side says I want the lightning to be best, even though it's not MY lightning. Going to test drive tomorrow... maybe

Hey...Im a die hard FORD guy...but I can appreciate other brands also. How many of you would refuse a Viper or Corvette Z06 being parked in your driveway? I would love to see the GT-40 return and lay down a good A** whipping on the Viper and Vette though.

 

Not to get anyone pissed off but all the viper owners have to do is supercharge theirs and make excess of over 700hp compared to the gt40s 500hp. I would take the 700 over 500 any day and with the price of the gt40 close to 100 grand just doesn't make sense.

 

This is true....but I think most are talking stock for stock. Though most sports cars never stay stock for long. But I agree with your comment. I mean...I could strap a rocket to my a** and be faster than both of them...but I chose not to for now J/K

I think that anyone that chooses the SRT10 over the L for just purposes of the HP, needs the start looking at their L in a more aesthetic light. Not only is the L a high performance machine, it is very nice to look at.

Well if you check your history, I think that you'll find that the 440 easily made the same HP as the Hemi, day in and day out. Only in the finest tune did the Hemi make better performance than the 440 maybe (by 5 hp or so), again day in and day out. BTW the Chevy 454 if my memory serves correct made more than both.

The old mopars are fun to play with as well as any 67-71 car back then but I have to agree with most here that mopar's rep still hasn't out lasted the early 80's to the mid 90's. Even today if this SRT-10 does come out I'm not going to be a buyer for the first 3 years(even a $30k), maybe mercedies hand will change my mind.
