Detailing

I would like to take my truck in for an exterior detail, ive called a few places and been back and forth in the yellow pages but haven’t found a place I feel comfortable leaving my truck for work. Some places seen to small and the big ones like ziebart and auto1 seem they wont take the extra time an **** retentive car guy need for his truck. Does anyone have suggestions what to look for in a shop, I would like a machine wax cleaning, polishing and waxing. Would a body shop be a better choice, IM so confused. If anyone in the sterling hts area has had this done and has a recommendation for a place, send it along please.

tks
jim

Jim, give Chuck (lightningsvt@mediaone.net) a email. He's the pres of MiLOC (Michigan Lightning Owners Club). He used to detail vehicles for a living and had a post on the Miloc board on NLOC looking for side business.

When I had a professional detail done on my L, I looked at the other vehicles that were in for a detail or had just been detailed. Let's just say the detailer I ended up using had cars in the shop that were at least 3 times the price of the L, and they looked really good. Lot's of Italian and German vehicles, mine was the only domestic

Oh and it was strictly done by hand, from the clay bar through the final polish. After that I only had to touch it up with a quick detail spray for nearly a year...

There use to be a guy here in town that did it behind CXI. But when CXI moved to another location, he didn't follow and we have yet been able to find him again. He would spent five or six hours makeing eleven trips around the truck doing the work all by hand. When he got done the truck looked sweet.

We currently have our L at a detailor for a car show tomorrow. Well see how well he does.
