BMW M Roaster vs '01 L from a stoplight.

Stopped at a light next to a M roaster tonight. Both of us in our 40's, mature guys, no kids here. A quick glance, but not sure if there is a race.....just a look, not a sure sign of anything.....Light turns green and we both peddle off slow and sure. After, I guess he is out of the clutch and safetly in first gear, the race is on! He jumps a car length by the time my truck downshifts to first. Trying to keep it straight and within 2 seconds i am a full truck length ahead of him. I back off at around 80 and he hangs back, looking for that right turn off the road. Maybe he went home to make a service appointment for a tune-up. Sweet win!

Yeah, you'll win that race every time. I also have a '98 M3 which runs the same times as the M Roadster: 0-60 in 5.4 and 1/4 mile at 14.1 (+/-)
I took mine to the track not long ago in hope for a 13.8 with the chip. So with any mods, or even stock for that matter, an L should beat the M Roadster or M3.
Now, if it's a new one (2002) they're up to 333hp in the M3 and 315hp in the M Roadster. They're running around 13.3 in the 1/4 with 0-60 being around 4.9 seconds. Now THAT would be a race! Just make sure you don't run them past 100mph, could get ugly.

Dusted one too

Yep... same thing happened to me here in Texas... I was doing the speed limit and saw this guy going about 10 under. Got closer and noticed the really nice wheels and tires, integrated roll bar... this guy had a hot set up.

Drove right on by thinking he'd take the bait... but no. Light turned red and he saunders up. By that time I thought he was on some kind of medication or something. Green light and he surprises me by nailing it... what a guy supposed do???

I MET THE CHALLENGE and nailed it too... we were going under the I-35 in Lewisville and before we got out from under the bridge... I was car lengths a head... hit about 80 and I noticed he was still trying and I just waved and backed down...

I thought they were quicker than that. Gotta admit... it was a sweet looking M Roadster...

Yeah the seats are in but the truck is currently at the body shop. I bought a Cervinis hood and am having the Billet grill replaced as well.....POS cracked. Anyway, the body shop is waiting for the paint because it is a special black color or something. I went to the SVT meet last week with my Dodge and got all kinds of blank stares
I called today and they might have it ready tommorow...if it is I'll be there.

The new M3's are pulling around 106.8 in the 1/4 mile (bone stock) and top out at a governor limited 155mph (supposed to run around 170mph). I think moded Lightning's like what i have run around similar trap speeds of 107. I think a moded Lightning should be able to take a bone stock M3 or M Roadster to the quarter mile, but after that it's all over.
Don't get me wrong, i love my L, just trying to state the facts here.

Bimmer

In a fair race, where both vehicles are stock and 2002, the bimmer will beat you badly. This vehicle is BMW's fastest vehicle 0-60.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just stating facts.

"Bimmer", say it like you're from England, sounds more like "Bimmaaaaa..."
