Thumbs up 'Never owned a four cylinder; but........

.......this thing is gonna be a real BAD a$$. Has anyone read the Car and Driver write up? 240 hp from a SC 2.2L 4-banger in a vehicle that weighs in at 2400-2500lbs. 0-60 in less than 5 seconds stock. I know it's a dream right now; but, it is a parts bin concept. It could very easily happen. I hate the name though.... Pontiac Solstice!?

Oh yea, they're shooting for less than $30,000 for the SC version. Things are starting to look too good on the high performance automobile front. I'm going to have a hard time choosing my next vehicle. That is for certain!

I like it. I could care less who builds it.

Good write-up on the Solstice in the April issue of Car and Driver. It's going to be a great car if Bob Lutz put his handiwork into it.

It's a gorgeous car- but I wonder if it will start rattling after 5,000 - 6,000 mi like most Pontiacs?

Pontiac- we build JUNK.

It doesn't matter what message board you're on, the manufacturer loyalists (Brand Zombies) are always present. The car company that gives me what I want is the one that get's my business.

Being closed minded and brand prejudiced does have a good point though. Your choices are much simpler to make. Limited, but simpler.

I think it looks a little like a Z8 (BMW).

Wait until Pontiac gets done adding a bunch of plastic lower body cladding and a wing! GM always finds a way to #*&$ up a good design.

Bob Lutz is sharp, but I think he'll suffocate at GM. I give him 2 years.

I think this car was aimed squarely at the new Z, with those looks, stats and price point.

Lutz didn't design this vehicle. It was submitted to him, along with others. He liked it and cleared the way for it to be brought to life. 18 weeks from start to what you see here. They have good people at GM. They just need someone to help them climb from under the a$$holes that are smothering them to death over there. That's Lutz's job.

You're cracking me up here. I think you might be right though. I hate the name, too.

The S-2000 and Boxter-S, too.
