Question on SRP Billet Pedals
Question on SRP Billet Pedals
I just received my pedals and have to admit the quality is very good, although I'm a bit surprised about how thin they were. The question is whether there is a coating on the pedals or are they raw aluminum? I was going to paint the Lightning script black and clear coat the whole pedal. Has anyone done this?
The pedals are just plain aluminum. They will scatch as you use them but I've had mine on for a month and they still look good. I found that taking a light and holding it up to the aluminum was the only way to see the scratches/scuffs. Normal daylight while getting in or out of the truck doesn't seem to reveal the scratches. I'm assuming that they will eventually wear down and they will have to be replaced. It is probably more dictated by the traction you have on the brake pedal. When it wears down and starts getting slick, it is time to replace them. I think the only way to truly protect them is to clear anodize the aluminum, but then they will no longer have that bright shiny look.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll go ahead and give it some coats of clear and see how long it lasts. I would rather not have to keep polishing the raw aluminum if I can help it.

I've had mine on for close to a year now and no problems. I haven't looked close enough for scratches but in everyday use you don't notice it anyway. They look good even when dirty and i have gotten snow and salt on them and it doesn't affect them. Just replace them when they wear thin.---Jim
