Any Harm Done?

I know this topic has been covered before, but the search feature doesn't seem to be working.

This morning I noticed that there was motor oil dripping out of my air filter (airraid box). Enough oil to saturate the entire filter and start dripping out. I'm assuming that the JDM crankcase breather will fix this issue, but in the meantime, has any harm been done? I haven't noticed it running any differently, but this can't be a good thing.

It is

common(nearly every L does it) but not normal.

I'm not familiar with the Airraid kit. Do you still use the rubber intake boot that clamps to the th/body? If so, I'm surprised the folds(pleats?) didn't hold the oil in the boot.

Some of this unwanted oil get's injested into the combustion chambers and may lead to/cause detonation. The oil breather cap may reduce the oil but it didn't eliminate it for my L. The thing that worked for me was inserting a 7/16" into the 3'8" PCV valve hose--right where the hose fit's onto the valve.

If you do this, you must vent the crankcase with one or more breather filters.

My 2000 L had a slight prob with this...

LIGHTNINROD,
The '00 L I had previously, got a very slight amount of oil into the vent tubes hooked into the intake boot...Never was this as bad as what your describing though There was a post about this very same probem way back when, claiming one could eliminate this by simply running the engine 1/2 quart shy of the recommended 6 quarts.

Show 'nuff, With 5.5 qts in the crankcase she burped up no more oil

I've been running the '01 with 5.5 qts since new, with great success!
