Exclamation A call from the Lightning Assembly plant?

I just got a call at home from a guy who said he was calling from the Lightning assembly plant and was asking all kinds of questions about my satisfaction truck. Has anybody else got this call? I asked him when I would be getting my build certificate and he said he didn't know to call 1-800-392-3673 (said was customer service). It was a strange call because the guy didn't seem to know anything about the truck, he even asked was it automatic! Is the second to third shift on your trucks extra firm? Mine is and I'm wondering if it's normal cause it only has 790 miles on it so far.

I got the same call, from the Lightning Assembly plant. He asked about any problems, my satisfaction with the L, etc. The call took about 10 minutes. He said the information would go to the engineering team.

I just now got that call. Told them I would have to rate my satisfaction as a 4 out of ten. A vehicle should not need it's engine replaced after 2600 miles. He asked me what ford could do to get it back up to a 10. QUALITY! I said that it would be nice if it would go a little longer than 2600 miles.

Unhappy

Dang! Your motor blew? I did tell him about the nice clunk of the muffler hitting the underside of the cab everytime I hit a good bump. This is annoying. I guess I'll have to take it back to the dealer but I cringe at the thought. It appears to be hitting thew head of a sheetmetal screw that's under the passenger seat.....

Usually Ford hires an outside company to do the calls. My dad got one about his 00' F350 and the person didn't seem to know much about vehicles either. Maybe that's whats going on with the Lightning calls and not knowing if they have a manual or auto???

This is total speculation, nothing I know because of being a Ford Employee, but I wouldn't be surprised if these calls are somehow an effort to build a case to save Ontario Truck Plant. Like I said, I don't know anything, but the first thing that occurred to me when I saw this was that was what it was. Any one else have any thoughts about this?

I got one of those calls shortly after buying my new 99 L

Back in June or July of 99, same call, same questions. I believe it was/is an honest effort to address ASSEMBLY plant issues only. At that time, the guy even gave me an 800 number where I could contact the Ontario plant directly if I had any issues come up they should know about.
However, I have not yet received similar calls for either my 01 or 02 L's.

I got a call too

Yep,

Got my call about a month after taking delivery. Told him I liked the L fine, except that it was pulling hard to the right, he seemd pleasant, neutral, concerned.

NOTE: when I took the L to the dealer for the alignment fix, they had that call listed as a "contact"!

I'd say it's either one of two things...

1- It's a legit call from someone at Ford trying to possibly survey Lightning owners due to the huge amounts of problems these trucks have. Even though Ford is screwing everyone under the sun over with lack or warrenty support, a different department somewhere could legitimately be trying to make sure we are happy .

2- It could be a standard courtesy call, from a hired service. Ford does do this. I got this call as well, on my 99. They also send out written surveys that are done by hired companies. The dealers also hire outside companies to contact customers for service work. I used to get "calls" from the dealer I used to work at about my own vehicles. "Hi, this is Candice from North Shore Linclon Mercury, and our records show that your vehicle is due for service". I said "Really? I work at NSLM and there is no Candice." LOL. Used to happen every few weeks.

It's most likely the second one, however, that fact that they indentified themselves as being from the Lightning plant, doesn't sound like a courtesy call. Then again, there is no "Lightning specific" plant .

Ford Quality Assurance Program

They do ramdom calling on all new vehicles sold. Not to likely it was from the actual plant but the assurance offices of Ford. It's all in the language they use to help acheive getting your opinion, like they need to trick you into sharing an opinion. Next time tell them to go look at all the Lightning forums for an opinion LOL

Quality

I live near the Oakville plant where all our Lightnings are built and I have heard from a Ford employee that since Ford has announced the plant closing, that quality has significantly deteriorated. Enough, that management is highly concerned.

Is that a surprise? How would any of you feel if you were told that your job would be eliminated?
