Best Fuel Filter?
nik:
It's located inside the left frame rail--near the driver's door. It can be a PITA to disconnect the fuel line couplings. You must get a fuel-disconnect tool--Snapon makes the best--DUH, but you can get one that will work from Sears, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. Press the fuel pump shut-off switch and try to start the eng. to relieve the fuel pressure. You will still need a container under the filter to catch the fuel. When you go to disconnect the coupling, push the coupling towards the filter before you place the tool in the coupling. Takes a little patience and 'wiggling' to get the fitting off, but you can.

I haven't looked at mine yet.
Are these the same type fittings used in AC lines?...The doughnut looking things?

'nuther question....
I posted a question about this some time ago, but I don't know if it was answered.
Since the stock filter seems to need replacing often, why not put a bigger filter in there...one with more surface area, maybe?
It seems that we could replace with a fuel filter from the heavy duty trucks...or do we already have that?

Taco: Canton/Mesa makes a fuel filter(replaceable element) that has a larger surface area but, don't try it. I did(they said it was for F150s) but if you get the line couplings on---you will never get them off. They made the ends too short--fits the Thunderbirds, I think.
