I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't prime a modular motor. The oil pump is driven off the crank snout. You'd have to actually spin the motor to get oil in there, and at that point I don't think it's really "priming"
.
Slightly off-topic..............
Reading Sal's post about "not priming" made me think of what some guys have said about how they do their oil changes. I'm talking about those that "hold the gas pedal down while turning the ign. key 'on' to prime the eng." as the last step in an oil change. They try this(along with pre-filling the filter--I believe in this) to keep from getting "unusual noises" after an oil drain/change. My point is, I don't think a battery and starter can spin the eng. fast enough to build up enough oil pressure to do any good.
Sal, am I wrong ?

Hey dudes
I went to NJ to check it out today, went to see the motor being set up on the dyno, I guess I misunderstood what Jim told me the other day.But me is feeling so much better now.

Sals not saying that the starter isnt spinning it fast enough for oil pressure. The true purpose of "priming" is to run the oil pump and circulate oil without the pistons moving up and down, crank turning, cam turning etc... Having to spin the crank in order to "prime" the pump doesnt accomplish this.
