Cool JDM Longtube exhaust install.......

Everyone,

I spent some time at JDM on Friday to get the Long Tube complete exhaust system installed. My thoughts are:

I went with the coated long tubes, 2 cats, 2 "medium" mufflers and the 2 slash cut tips.

First off, let me say that all parts were very sweet!! The long tubes have nice welds, the coating was very smooth and no missed edges. The cats and mufflers are polished stainless. Needless to say, the look very nice under the truck.

I had the tips positioned shorter than normal as to flow with the edges of the truck. This was my personal preference. NOTE: The standard JDM system will protrude out a bit further in order to help reduce the water puddle directly under the tire when idling in the staging lanes.

While I didn't do the install myself I can say that it all was quick and painless. With the truck on the lift Shaun was able to quickly de-install the factory system and install the JDM system. The long tubes fit in from the top pretty easily. I decided to have Shaun weld all tubes instead of clamping. So, now the system is really 2 pieces: The long tubes and the collector back. The collector back piece fits perfectly in factory hangars and is easily removed.

I must admit that I was pretty excited to hear the end product. Upon start up, its a very mellow growl. Not much louder than stock. When accelerating, the sound gets more aggressive but not over powering in the cab. As a matter of fact, on the 3 hour ride home, at cruising speeds, the system was very mild unless Bettina was in the throttle.

As far as power, I wasn't able to hit E-Town on Friday. I can say that the initial surge of power stays with you for the entire RPM range. The truck seems to pull much easier than before. Even with the 3.55's the truck has quite a bit more tip-in power.

BTW, it did pass the wife test. Not to loud, and looks cool!! So she says.......She too was pretty excited about some new power in the truck.

I would recommend the system to anyone wanting a nice setup. Personally, I like the coated vs the stainless long tubes. Also, a lift would probably make the install much, much easier than jackstands.

I will dyno the truck at a later date as well as get some new time slips. I will some pics from the house in a bit.

Time to update the sig.......

Talking Long Tubes the way to go...

Brian is right the long tubes ROCK!!!!! Finished mine early this afternoon. Not only do they look nice the install was really easy on jackstands in my garage, although I must admit removing the old exhaust was a real PITA !!!! However nothing that my Saw All couldn't cure . Yep I cut the hell out of my stock exhaust. I will never put it back on, cause I never go backwards.

So..... once I had everything removed the long tubes and complete exhaust was a snap. Everything bolted up perfectly looks great and sounds great. This exhaust system clears JDM's lift bars better than the stock setup did. Much better clearence. Unlike Brian I liked my tips sticking out a little more, but then again we are all different.

Seat of pants feeling is

I'm very pleased!!

Thumbs up Hey Brian, Looks Great..

Thanks for the pics, I like the way you had the tips kept with the lines of the truck.
When did you order yours? Just wanted to get an idea as to how long the wait is.

Everyone,

I am happy to say that the wife squared away the bill with Julie, so I don't know all the details. (Note: Wife isn't for sale... )

I know that his list price is around 1795 + Install. For the install, you are looking at 4 hours. Best bet is to call (732)780-0770 and speak to Jim or Julie. OR email at sales@teamjdm.com

As far as stock, I know that Jim is working like a madman to fill all orders and obtain a quantity of "in-stock" systems.

But, I encourage everyone to call or email because orders are constantly coming in at JDM. Believe me when I say they get a boatload of phone calls.

Sorry I can't be more precise with the $$, but the wife told me not to worry 'bout the bill. (Note to self...Wife wants something....Something BIG...or with 2 legs and 2 arms.... )

Nitro,

I suggest digging through the JDM section at svtperformance.com if you want more $$ info. I believe its over there somewhere.

Remember all the parts you get here:

Coated long tube headers
Manifold gaskets
New bolts that replace the factory studs
Collector gaskets
Collector bolts
Collector to cat piping
2 polished stainless hi-flow cats
Piping to x-pipe
X-pipe
2 polished stainless magnaflow mufflers
Piping to tips
2 polished stainless tips
02 extensions
Chip reburn (If superchip)

I'm not a spokesman for JDM or an employee for that matter. I'm just saying its a very high quality kit. Look at the cost of the full Bassani system that gives you little to no gain.......$1600.00 for that system. Make your own decision, but I think you will find it worth the cost of admission.

As mentioned, I have no dyno or track numbers...yet...But I can tell you that there is a noticable difference in the power of the truck.

Vinnie.......We had Justin, Scott, Pete, Jim and I ready to go and the fog and dew set in something serious. It looked like a Friday the 13th movie. We couldn't see the Nestle factory from the garage bay. Not to mention each vehicle was covered with dew. So, we decided conditions were less than good and grabbed some chow instead. Tell shaun that you want the "Diamond Cutter" tips......Inside joke, but he will know what you mean...

Wink I was there

To all those interested in getting the JDM Long Tubes and full exhaust, I was there for the install of Brian K's system. Two phrases describe what I saw:

1. Top Notch quality parts
2. Top Notch quality service

The JDM crew that installed the system was extremely meticulous and professional, as if the the truck was their own.

As for all the pricing questions on the forum, Brian K is not the price book for the various vendors. The internet is extremely powerful when it comes to "search" capabilities. The phone is also quite useful for a quote as well. Of course, if you choose to pay "list" from a vendor, that is your business. Being in sales myself, I am little more privvy to negotiating...just takes a little practice

My thoughts
