Time to start mods
Now that spring/summer is almost hear i'm going to begin modding. I have a 2001 L, What is my approx quatermile time now?
I have been looking at JDM, and I talked to Justin once, and I like what they have. I currently have no mods right now except for a K&N air filter, and a hole in the bottom of my airbox.
What mods would be best. I really want to get the headers and back, but I can't throw down 1500 on just that. I use my L as a daily driver, plan on taking it to a track a few times, but mostly just street use. I was look at chip, filter, pulley, what else would be best money wise. I can't spend over $2G...still in HS
What quarter time, and 0-60 time will i be looking at. I know the stock 2001 does it in 5.8
And what kind of HP/Torque will i be looking at.
Thanks

This would be a good starting point
Flip Chip, gives you more options down the road
Filter
Breather
Pulley- JDM just came out with a interchangable lower.
Line Mod
These with a 2# pulley will get you about 12.8 in the 1/4 mile
Then down the road
electric fan
Cobra water pump
Throttle body
traction bars
Headers, cat back

Stock, you could run anywhere from a low 14 et to a low 13 et. The track prep, air, and skill at launching will make it hard to predict.
Mine is a daily driver and 1/4 miler with no problems doing either. See my sig.

screw the long tubes and exhaust, that just happens to be the latest and greatest mod out right now. I'm sure I'll be buying the headers myself. But that is besides the point.
for $750-1500 dollars, the exhaust as your first modification isn't going to do jack squat. don't do it.
instead for $500 or so you could buy a chip and a pulley and be running 12.80's give or take a few tenths depending on lots of track/driving variables. just a chip and pulley should be able to give you close to 400 rear wheel horsepower!
so anyway what I'm saying is that you'll be alot happier with a chip/pulley as a first mod rather than spend twice the amount or more for an exhaust system that isn't going to work on your stock truck.
most of these guys that are getting real benefits from the long tube headers are already making 450+HP and 550+ftlbs (at the crank).
good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks,
Chris i was thinking that, but i just hate how my truck sounds so quiet, It has no deep sound and it's what i want the most...what about just getting like a cat back system...how would that affect the sound.
Does anyone have an idea on a 0-60 time with the mods...I'n R/T it says a 98 viper does a 12.5 quarter, and 0-60 in 4.3...if i get my quarter down to mid twelves what kind of number can i look at for my 0-60 time.

Boostin,
True, but still, I like knowing exactly what my truck can do.
Also I use my truck for daily driving around town and such forth, so i can't really push my 1/4 mile time, and go into the hundreds,
so since i can only go so high, then i just like to make it there faster

Every truck is a little different
What you will find out is that there is so many variables to 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. There can be up to a few tenths difference.
The bottomline is if you want sound then get a JDM or Bassini exhaust. But if you want power that you will DEFINATELY feel then chip, pulley, air.
It is a choice only you can make.Do you want to SOUND like your going fast? Or do you WANT to go fast?
Good Luck

I spent around 850 bucks and dropped 7 tenths in the 1/4 and drove my truck every day last summer. If you buy a lower pulley I caution you cause the rods can break, like they did in mine 6 weeks ago.
I hear ya same with me not a 1/4 mile track for like 75 miles. So I get little quick short burst around town when there is little traffic.
Maybe you should look into a g-tech(don't know if they work though)
I see alot of people with magnaflow. I've heard one truck with magnaflow and one with flows and another with JDM'S and let me say that the JDM is just plain out badass! But alot of dough.Magnaflow is the next best thing.
So happy hunting.Read the boards for awhile and you will see what you want to do to YOUR truck.
