What did you do last night ???
Cruised to the Parkette with my daughter ... Friday
night at the Parkette is a longtime Lexington tradition.
The cars are awesome ... Some of what I can remember:
Model "T" - Buckets -- Just like the "Green Hornet" of '65
1957 "T" Bird
1938 Packard
Two Prowlers
'66 Mustang vert - Cherry - it's the 18th one the guy has refurbed.
'54 Ford with the "pointy" front end
'50 Ford F-1 Pickem-up Truck
'56 "T" Bird - Opera windows - PINK ???
'53 Lincoln Continental
'?? "T" Bird with the electric hard top that retracts into the trunk !
About 30 more that I was kicking myself for not bringing the digital
camera along!!!
And about 100 Harley's of all varieties.
The weather was great -- The comnraderie marvelous -- The
local TV station was even there ...
For all you out-of-towners, the Parkette is a 1950 style car-hop
restaurant that was started in the 50's by a local fella, and has
been the center of the car scene in Lexington for 40 years. He
recently passed away, but the tradition is still going on. Last
night everyone was parked in the back lot, when the TV peeps
showed up, the manager came and asked everyone to park up
up front at the pull-ins where you order. So everyone moved.
You coulda shot a vintage movie there !! It so totally impressed
my 25 year old that she can't wait for next Friday ...
They sponsor "road-trips" throughout the summer, and "cruise"
to local points of interest like Boonesborough Beach and
Harrodsburg throughout the summer.
If your traveling along I-75 near Lexington on a Friday night,
take an hour and come by ... Exit Winchester Road West to
New Circle (4) south ... Parkette's on your right.

Another bluegrass lover(Get Ralph Stanley's new CD, "Sweethearts".).
We both had fun with our Ls--I got a new best et and talked with a young friend who has seen the 'light' and ordered an 02 L--after selling his 01 Anniversary Edition Trans Am. He mumbled somethun' about "Never could beat you at the track, can't shift a six-speed, etc
.
Btw, I spent a looooong 3 months in Lexington back in the winter of 1962 training at the IBM plant.

That was LONG before I was working, son ... <grin>
I was like in 10th grade ... Most of the folks at Parkette
were about my age anyhow. Makes you jealous when these
young Far*s get these nice rides so early in life, huh ???

Was riding the Harley. Weather was great around here. Wish we had cruises around here that often. Most of the time when I cruise the L I have to create my own fun.
