freakin wanna be "L"
If anyone on this forum lives in the close vicinity of Norman,Oklahoma go by Reynolds Ford....U will be sick to your stomach and want to B@#ch slap some bonehead for trying to convert his 2001 blk xlt flareside into a L. I mean i doubt very seriously if the dealer did this but check these mods out to the weak 4.6L...First and foremost L badges
clear tailights(from a L)
front facia is all stock L(the headlight bulbs even have
svt on them.
actual F1's/18 svt stock wheels
svt badge on tailgate
dual tip exhaust with i think a flowmaster...def not
L muffler
The thing that sticks out the most is it has a 99/00 upper grille and a 01/02 lower grille....and it has purple pinstripes around it....
brown cloth seats....ok sorry i dont have any pics....those that know nothing bout our trucks would think its legit..and prob fool some of u guys too...I'm not trying to slam anyone but man like u guys said b4....it makes the real L owners look like bozos..
Albert if u read this go look at it

America has a mucho mas wannabees,
and we should be proud and thankful that we are fortunate enough to own one and some cases, two of these FINE vehicles. I found it kinda flattering last week, to see a 'Bowtie Blowhard'
in his '01 Cheby stepside with the Lightning design exhaust system (coming out of the passenger side like ours!! )

Amen, plus think how much fun you can have with your Lightning after somebody runs the fake Lightning and thinks THAT all Lightnings preform like that one

I wouldn't assume that everyone is a wanta-be "L" enthusiast .... not everyone wants a Lightning.
I could have bought an "L". I even gave some serious thoughts to buying an "L". But the XLT, with a sensible 4.6 engine, was my truck of choice. With a 4"- 6" drop ... it will look pretty awsome.
If an XLT is done right, to look somewhat like an "L", with a 4.6 engine, it is IMHO the best of both worlds. Reasonable costs, super looks, excellent performace, great sounds and great gas mileage. The "L" offers only half of what I want out of my truck.
I added the '01 headlights, but I don't believe in installing the Lightning badges. In fact, I am removing my badges altogether for a cleaner look. I don't want people to know what it is for sure. Keep 'em guessing.
Why pay a big price for an "L" and then remove half of the stuff off of it? Wheels, Tires, Grill and more. Personally, I never did like the "L" front bumper cover. The new "StreetScenes" bumper cover (featured on the front of Truck'in Magazine) looks yards better than the "L" version. In fact, Ford Motor Co. recently presented StreetScenes with an award for design excellence at SEMA, where the truck was on display. (Read the article in the new Truck'in)
Add the new Street Scenes Wiper Cowl Cover, painted to match the truck, and it already looks better than any stock "L".
My 4.6 gets 23 mpg down the road with a 3.08 rear-end. And I hope to increase that to 24 or 25 when I get done with the new cat-back exhaust system and new Gen. II K&N.
I plan to take an 8,500 mile trip late this summer and Fall and I wouldn't want to do it in an "L" with that big horse of an engine sucking down gas like there is no tomorrow.
So, don't deny me the right to drive the truck that looks like I want it to look. This is still American ... isn't it?

Yea theres nothing wrong with that. The SVT badge is the stupid part though. That is trying to be an L. Wonder why the guy didnt get an L. Sounds like he put alot of money into makeing his look like one. He could have paid the 30K for one.
Hey Predatr or A-Lightning, go back to Reynold's Ford in Norman, OK. Go back to the shop, ask to speak to a Jerry that is a mechanic, and tell him greetings from Someone in La Follette, Tennessee.... He'll know who your talking about... Thanks a bunch and let me know what happens my email is davidt@ccdi.net
