JDM Long Tube Install Pics>>>

The headers went on tonight, the install was very straight foward and no real suprises. We were not able to install the bassani cat back due to it being welded the stock cat pipes when i installed it a few months ago. The truck will be flat bedded down to my muffler guy in the morning to wrap up the install of the catback.

We used a lift and one person worked on each side. The stock exhaust and manifolds came off in about 20 minutes and he actuall install with us taking our time and eating dinner was about 4 hours. The driver side is peice of cake and the header easily went in from the bottom. We removed all the upper studs on that side to ease the actual placement of the header, Once the header was on the lower studs we reinstalled the upper studs and tightened them all down. We used all the stock studs on the driver side.

The passenger side was a bit tougher. The header install from the top and it takes a little patience to get it in place. The only stud we removed and replaced with a bolt was the 1st lower on towards the front. The placement of the header will require temporary movement of the front ac line and the large wire harness bolted to the frame (see pics) Once those are loose ypu just have to wiggle it in place. After everything was tight I cleaned all the frame wax off the header and installed the cats and cat pipes. We started it up and let it idle for a few to check for leaks and let everything burn off the headers.

Over all I am very happy and will post some driving impressions tommorro night.

Great pics . . . first time I've seen some good closeups.

Those one-piece flanges are HUGE, the seamless primaries look perfect and those collectors tuck up real nice. =)

Looks great. Regarding the a/c line, does this require the a/c system to need a recharge?

I'll take this one for Bob. No, it just has to be moved to the side to allow more clearance.

Bob,

My hat's off to you and your friends, you did a good job.

Did any instructions come with your long tubes and cats? I had none.

Nice Pic's

Looks like a good job on the headers by Kook's also. Tight but functional, and clean looking.

Bob,
Did you have a hole tapped into into one of the tubes for your EGT guage. If so, was there enough metal to get a good tap?
Thanks - Chris S.

BTW - nice pictures and install.

I am work now and the truck is at the muffler shop being finished. I am excited to drive this monster

Chris - #5 cylinder was tapped about 4/5 inches from the exhuast port. The metal was a little thin but we were able to tap it and install the sender to my liking. If it leaks I will just have the fitting brazed in there.

02 sensor

Nice job! Did the kit come with a pigtail that extended the 02 sensor wire? Your first photo with the headers on the cart looks like they did, Thanks for the info, Chet
