Burnout help.

Ok you experienced drag racers, figure this one out. I was practicing my burnouts this evening, since the track was rained out. And I have a dilemma.

My truck will NOT upshift out of first gear while I am doing the burnout. I tried it with both my foot on the brake, and off the brake, with the same results.

Am I missing something? I can get only about 40 MPH wheel speed before the truck hits the rev limiter.

Jay,

Have you tried to manually shift during a burnout? Sometimes I put mine in First and go to have throttle, then shift to 2nd and hit it to make it burnout to the line. I have even done a burnout in only 2nd and had good luck with that as well.... 1.69 - 1.75 60 foots on stock stall convertor!!

I dunno, on the street earlier I did a slight brake induced burnout and easily shifted while spinning..

Thanks for the help guys.

Richard, I did try to shift manually, but it didn't help. Also, it will do a burnout in 2nd, but Greg Evans said that wasn't too good for the trans.

I am going to install the Factory Tech valve body, and then have Danny Swanson return the trans pressure back to stock on the chip. Maybe that is the problem.

Jay when I raced FFW in my Saleen with the C-4 I would only shift into second toward the end of the burnout, it really isn't good , cause that is when it really starts to hook, At a 40mph wheel speed I think the Slicks are hooking really good. it doesn't take alot to get a Mickey or Hoosier to hook anything more is wasting your tire. I had a set of goodyears that I could not get to hook at all. needless to say I will never buy them again. I always did a heatup and then a dry hop and was ready to go . pulling 1.49's and they lasted 12 races at probally an average of 8 or more passes a race. and if they are hooking that good make sure you screw them.

Don, yes, I can get the tires good and hot at 40 mph. It takes about 6-7 seconds. I did about a 10 second burnout last night, and the street was full of smoke and rubber. The tires were hot too.

The Street Legal Drags people get funny if you go over 5 seconds on your burnout. I guess they'll have to get funny. After the first heavy burnout, the ET Streets probably won't need much on subsequent burnounts.

Cool

HI!... Here's one I did a while ago. Most of you guys have already seen this but I'll post it again for the newer guys. This was done in 1st gear and you can hear me shift into 2ND gear. The truck bogs sightly during the 2ND gear shift because I was stepping on the brakes real hard to keep the truck from lunging forward. This is about 52 seconds long. By the way I'm N/A naturally asperated.

Neal.... WHOLY!!!!

I wish my truck could do that. DO you ever do that at a redlight

I've got a question. When you do this you have to hold down your brakes... Hard. How do you keep from blowing out your back breaks?
