Should I remove the towbar?

I'm not towing anything, never will. Will I gain any gas mileage by taking off the towbar and hitch? What do you do with the electrical? Wrap it to something. Dealer wants $145 to do the job, can't I do it myself, being NON mechanical? I have a friend who has a body shop that has the proper tools. Complicated?

If I lose the weight, will the back hop around?

A lot more? I will still keep my ARE lid on the back, which weighs about 50 lbs. or so....

I doubt the weigh loss would make any difference. The 6 bolts are TIGHT from the factory. A simple way to do it is to use milk crates. I used them when I transferred my hitch to my Lightning. I set the receiver on the crates (one each side), then only had to actually lift the hitch up a few inches. Would be the same removing it.

yes those bolts are tight from the factory. Gave my impact wrench a good workout.

But I don't tow, so I took mine off. I like the look without it more, could care less about the weight savings.

Mine has been off since I bought my L, including the spare tire and jack. A lighter L is a quicker L and no, the rear end does not jump around with the weight removed.

Vin.......Just take a peak under your truck. They are VERY obvious. Huge galvanized bolts right into your frame rails, those are the ones. Simple mod, takes 15 minutes, but like others said use jack stands or something to support the hitch while loosening the bolts

Cool

I can't believe a dealer is trying to charge $145 to remove a hitch.

If you won't be needin the bolts anymore, just find a trailer park, hookup to 60 foot doublewide on blocks and just drive away.

Ya got 360hp fer crying out loud.
