2001 engine being rebuilt...

Angry 2001 engine being rebuilt...

Well, I only have 4300 miles and it would blue smoke pretty bad every time I would crank it up in the morning. It was born on 8/23/01 and it was in the shop on 9/11/01 (That's what's wrong...) In didn't have an intake gasket and when they replaced it, the silicon was getting into the oil and almost had the oil intake clogged completely. The intercooler pump went out and I let them keep it overnight. When the mechanic saw how bad it was, he said he would rebuild it for me so he took it out last week and I just took these pictures. There was blow-by in cylinder 6. Oil all the way intake the intake hose and t-body. He is rebuilding the entire engine and I'm putting some Manley rods in it while he's doing it for free

While you are on the inside of the engine, have them install a new chain tensioner. Those have been failing and creating the loose rod sound as well. Just a suggestion....

do you suppose this is the elusive marble sound?

Hopefully your mechanic is sending the crank out to be rebalanced prior to installing the Manley rods...

My ? is ...Why did they tear into it anyway???
Everything i've heard and read, They completely replace the engine with new! Heads will roll on this one, i'll bet!
SVT wants the engines back intact to investigate the problem, NO TAMPERING!
HMMMMMMMMMM, Something sounds fishy here!
