Question Lowest rear gear ratio?

What is the lowest that anyone is using? Anyone have lower than 4.10:1? Just asking. I want to change my gears, but am curious as to how low I can go, how it will affect my truck and how much I should expect to pay. I have a 65 mustang and I swapped in a 9 inch rear with a 3.50:1 Detroit Locker. I really like what it did for my acceleration. Just curious! Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure if other gears are available for the 9.75" rearend beside the stock 3.73, 3.55, and aftermarket 4.10's.

I think he means higher than stock. Like 4:56:1. I get it confused too.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys for the replies. I basically new all that already DB, but thanks. I was really wondering if anyother ratios were being used.

Boostin,

I can't recall off hand how much the swap on my mustang cost. I will do some research into the "records vault" and let you know tomorrow.

Anyone using gears other than those mentioned above?

Talking

I think lower gear = higher ratio for example 4.10 is lower than 3.50

Yep! For example, if the ring gear makes one revolution (in a 3.73 to 1) the pinion has to make 3.73 revolutions to turn the ring gear one full revolution.
