New pulley and funny smell?

I installed my 4# pulley over the weekend and reburned chip. First impressoins are great but now if I do a WOT run or short burst I get a burnt smell. I am not sure if this is normal but I do remember a slight smell before, but this is a little stronger. Also I am still getting a lot of black crap on the exhaust tips, so is this normal?

That smell you noticed was the charred carcas of your competition.

Roasted SS Camaro stinks pretty bad, huh?

Cajun style blackened NSX stinks worse.

You'll get used to it, though.

Is it a burnt rubber smell? Blower belt slippage, possibly?

That might be the cause. I will have to check it out today. If that is the problem is there a fix or do I need to live with it.

I think I know???????????

With your new, increased boost levels, you propably are forcing more(even stock, you get 'some') unwanted oil into the intake area. It is coming from the PCV valve hose connected to the intake adaptor/plenum. Some of it drains 'down' to the th/body and rubber boot. (Just a guess, but that may be one of the reasons the boot is 'ribbed'--to keep the oil from draining down to and contaminating the MAF sensor?) Some of it is injested past the s/c and the i/c, into the combustion chamber where it is 'burned'(may cause detonation).

I bet if you loosen the upper boot clamp, some oil will be flowing past the th/plates. If you ever checked this before the pulley-install, can you make a comparison of the quantity there now?

I did check it before and there was a slight amount. If I have time I will check it out and give a report.
