drag racing and warranty

I have a bone-stock 2001 L with about 2500 miles on it. Runs perfect, no issues so far. My question is, if something breaks or goes wrong with my L, while doing any quarter-mile drag racing (in stock form), will Ford be able to void the factory warranty? I also got the extended warranty too, for peace of mind. I've read about the problems regarding modded Ls and their warranties, but I haven't seen much about stock Ls. Thanks!

There shouldn't be any problems, as long as you don't tell them you broke it at the strip!

Why would there be any warranty problems with a stocker?

Exactly--don't worry about it.

HOWEVER... for reasons of insurance try to get it to a local gas station or somthing away from the track so that they, the evil insuance ****'s, don't know you break it there. Because that will hick up your insurance if they find out that you race... car and life.

Alot of the guys at my track use eachother's tows to get the car's out before calling AAA.

Misuse or abuse can void your warrenty just as easy ad mods can....

If they can prove it, and its not that hard to....

It would be really unwise of them to do so as they promote it in SVT literature and events along with the posting of performance data (e.g 1/4 mile times).

In stock form I wouldn't worry about it. Insurance is another matter, though.

Thanks for the responses!

I also believe that they shouldn't void a warranty on a stock vehicle, but where do you (and especially Ford) draw the line between normal 'use' and 'abuse'? I agree, in the brochure, they mention how it will 'launch with aggressive assurance at a drag strip, then turn around and carry an 800 pound payload...', so it seems that Ford thinks that drag racing will be part of it's 'normal use'. Anyway, my L has been good so far, so I don't think I'll worry about it too much.

Hehe,
I've pushed several cars just outside the gates of the track in order for AAA to cover a tow! I would do that ESPECIALLY if it was getting towed to the dealer!

this is pasted directly from a SVT online class that i was taking on the internet tonight for work

SVT owners race their vehicles on the drag strip and road courses and expect their vehicles to perform above the standards of mainstream vehicles.

NEVER let them get assertive with you.

When the dealer asks, "Gee Mr. Smith, how did this 2" thick layer of VHT soaked rubber residue get caked in your fenderwell?"

Simply look suprised and say, "What?! It wasn't like that when I dropped it off here! What kinda ZOO are you running here anyway you clown!!!"

It helps to act pissed and have the red face and spit particles flying while you are talking to him.

THEN. . .make them wash it off when they fix the car!

(don't laugh. . .it got my '91 mustang's T-5 replaced while the car was in getting recall work done!)
