Unhappy 99 to 01 Shock Conversion

Help,

I bought a 01 shock kit, and now it is banging and clunking. I think that the problem is the top shock fasteners.

The installer used the old front shock nuts/plates to mount the rear shocks, and the adaptor plates (nuts w/rubber) to mount the front shocks

Is this wrong...or why does the chassis clunk now...didn't before the change

What is wrong????

Thanks,

...Dwight...

I had originally planned on getting the Bilstiens, and actually did get the rears, but had heard about that noise and decided to go with the Beltechs up front. Glad I did, as the shocks are awesome.

I don't know about anyone else, but two of my OE shocks- one front and one rear- had cross-threaded shock mount nuts. I had to cut them off with a high speed cutting tool to get them off.

Later,

I changed out all my shocks yesterday to Bilstiens. No noise. Got all 4 from FORDPARTSONLINE.COM for $161.96 shipping included. We used all the parts that came with 'em.

What came with them?

My kit had two front, two rear and two adaptors (Nut/steel plate and rubber spacer).

I was told that we needed new nuts, etc for the upper mounts on the rears with the 01 Bilstiens.

What is your impression of the newer shocks?? Is the ride better?? How about handling??

I have been considering this for a while.

There just not tight enough, retighten all the upper nuts on the front shocks to "Extreamly Tight"
