Question 99-00 Steel Driveshaft

Hey guys,

Just checked with my Ford parts guy. Said you can't get the steel driveshaft anymore, just the aluminum.

Anyone know a Ford dealer that has one?

Thanks

Hey DL did you have any sort of traction device when you snapped your drive shaft. I was talking to Matt when you called him. I just ordered a pinion snubber from Troyer today so hopefully I will not have to worry about a busted drive shaft. But only time will tell........thanks for the info.

I have one if you need it. It was used for 10,000 mi. I have been using aluminum drive shaft for 6,000 mi. now. Work up a price with shipping from massachusetts and it's yours.

Well,

Not Yet. But I have been out of town, so I'm not in a hurry. The dealer ordered a F-150 steel driveshaft, but it won't work.

I think Ford is starting to replace the 99-00 driveshafts with the 01-02 ones.

So, they ordered me a aluminum one. Should be in at the dealer in the next day or two.

Yeah, I was looking to buy a steel one for racing only.

Hey xbigjoe,

I may be interested. Can you send me some pics, thanks.

You might try Gene Evans Ford in Union City, Ga. Huge dealer and they sell Ford racing parts and they have a web site too.

My Ford parts guy said he checked the Ford parts computer nationwide and nobody had a steel one available..

Maybe someone has one on the shelf but inventoried in Fords nationwide computer.

If anyone finds one at their dealer, please shoot me an E-Mail, thanks

DL,

You remember how you said you have a Maury street place you work at here in Richmond? Well there is a place about 2 miles from there that makes driveshafts. They can make you a great one for racing. I am going to have one done soon...

Hey Soap,

Sorry I forgot to respond. I am getting a snubber like HighRoller has. I plan on ordering one tomorrow.

I'm wondering if I'm going to need traction bars to go with the snubber?

95rcobra,

I'll get back to you soon.. thanks

Richard,

The facility I work at is located beside a rock quarry. Did you get my E-mail with the engine part prices? Let me know how much the driveshaft is for racing... thanks

DL,

Mike told me it is not necessary to use traction basr with the snubber. Matt said his works great with that as his only traction device. I have the Truck Traks already and plan on doing some testing with different combinations.
