Need to find some 3 or 4" drop shackles...who sells them?

I just installed the FRPP 1/2" kit on my L. I'm not sure where FRPP came up with those measurements, but they got them backwards. It should be called the 2/1" kit. The front "1 in." coils resulted in a 1.75" drop in front and the rear "2 in." only have me .75 drop. Before the kit was installed I had a slight front rake (as do most L's from the factory)....however that slight rake has transformed into a full-blown 45 deg slant! (Ok....maybe I'm exaggerating...but believe me, it's DEFINITELY slanted).

I'm very happy with the Front drop...but those "2 in." shackles have to go. I need at least another 1" drop to make the truck look normal (and 2" to make it level). Does anyone know where I can find rear shackles that will give me a legitimate 3" drop (from stock)?

Thanks

Did you use the last hole (top hole) on the drop shackles?

I was happy with the Belltech 2" Drop Shackles I installed.

Here's a pic. Does your rear look similar?

BTW, I sent you a email a couple of days ago. Just making sure you got it . . .

Flash-
Yes...I got your email. I sent a response...did you not recieve it? I was in full agreement with everything you said.

Re: the Shackles-
Yes, I installed them using the top holes, but as I said...that only got me a .75 drop. Based on the physical differences between the stock shackle and the 2" FRPP shackle, I assumed that it would offer a nice drop. But that wasn't the case.

Normally the .75 - 1" drop would do a nice job of leveling out the stock rake, and making the truck level. But since the front coils offered such a dramatic (more than advertised) drop, it looks ridiculous with just a .75 drop in back. To give you an idea of the how the truck sits.....I measured from the top of the tire to the lip of the fender:

Front: 2.25" between tire and fender
Rear: 5" between the tire and fender.

If it ever stops raining here, I'll get some pics taken so you can see what I'm talking about.

Strange, I never got your reply. MY email might be acting weird again.

The address is flashsvt@attbi.com

Really odd about the lowering issue. There are 2" hangers you can add to the 2" shackles to get you a 4" drop in back. In your case a 2 3/4" drop combined.

I know Streetking just did a 4/4 kit on his 02.

Here is a link to his post with some pics:

Snap some pics, I'm curious as to how your truck is sitting.

I bet they put the wrong shackles in your lowering kit.

I know someone who got a set of Bell tech shackles and they put two different sizes in the box.

Any idea where I can find the 2" hangers? I did a google search for Belltech and it kicked out a million Belltech vendors....but I still can't find a hanger set that fits. I know that Belltech makes a 3" or 4" drop kit for the rear.....I've just gotta find it.

try using the western chassis 2" drop shakels, I heard they are about 1/2 longer that the bell tech, and make the truck sit level with the ground force coils. I have them on order, will let you know after I get them installed.

hangers are a pain in the a$$ to do for only a 1" drop that you want.

I would try out soem new leaf springs first. atleast that way you can benefit from loosing some weight with them too!

I would appreciate that! BTW...where did you order them from?

RT-
What all is involved with the installation of Hangers? I've never worked w/ them, so I'm pretty clueless about them.

Thumbs up

i have 2 lightnings. one has a 3/4 drop and one has a 2" shackle in back. they both have bell tech. the 3/4 is a definite 4 " in the back. the 2" shackle by it self lowered my other truck a little less than a inch. hope this helps.

I just did the Bell tech 3/4 drop on my truck. I had only the western chassis 2" drop shackels in the rear before. The western chassis and the bell tech shackels are the same lenght but the holes in the shackels are in different spots. You WILL get more of a drop out of the western chassis shackels than the bell tech. When I did my drop kit, I tried to just move the w.c. shackels to the next hole instead of changing them out all together but the truck sat too low in the back. I installed the bell tech shackels at the second hole and it raised it up a bit to perfect height.

Hope this helps....

Nick
