adding homelink visor to L?
It is the second weekend with the L and the dealer is closed. I have gotten the homelink on the mind since seeing one with the memo record feature Friday. Has anyone added this to thier L? How much does the visor cost with homelink on it? How hard to hook it up? There should be power already to run the vanity mirror, right? I do not like the control in the console, poor reception and my door control is thin so it doesn't work well. Thanks for any input.
anyone have a contact for FordSales. I tried searching other Ford sites for info., but found none available. Does Ford have anything online like GMpartsdirect.com? I guess I can wait until Monday to talk with the dealer, but usually when I want to do something like that it confuses whoever I talk to at the dealer.
Dealer was absolutely no help in trying to find out price and order a homelink transmitter. Told me that it was not available for me to purchase like that.
Anyone with a link to a partsdirect or to someone that has done this mod, please reply.

Thanks Jeff, no rush on the matter. I just couldn't believe the guy had no idea what I was getting at and then told me I could not order something like that. With enough money there is nothing that they wouldn't order for you. I have not taken my visor off to look at how they hook up or if any special wiring is needed. Thanks for your willingness to help, I have to get over to K-town and stop by the dealership.

Holy Snikes!! I will get out and pull the door open by hand before spending $400. Thank you for looking into that for me. When I run out of modifications to do, I might look into that. That is funny.
Mark if you are interested in this mod at a fair price call me tomorrow at 1-800-433-0018 and I'll see if I can hook you up.
They don't offer just a Homelink module and the visor is actually formed differently around the module so transplanting one wouldn't work anyway. The Expedition or Supercrew visor should work fine in place of your stocker and the wireing just plugs in to your factory miror light feed (5 minute install tops) so give me a call and I'll look it up for you (it won't be $400).
PS- I don't have Homelink in my L yet but I have it on my Hayabusa
. I stripped an old Lincoln visor and mounted the transmitter in my bike (should have been a factory option)!

kerrdog, i looked up the medium graphite visor at work on CPD and the retail was $379 give or take a few $, and cost was almost $300. How can you get it cheaper? I had to get a visor with no mirror or anything for my girlfriends 98 contour a while back and it cost me $175 at cost+15% (what us employees get).
In the dealer installed option book, the HomeLink (Part No. 13707) for the F-150 includes both driver's side and passenger's side sunvisors. HomeLink has three remotes also has a recording divice called TravelNote. Some thing you can't live without.
FordSales had a whole how-to install written up on it with photos I think, so hopefully you can get in touch with him (or spend a few hours flipping back through old posts).
I could have sworn he added -only- the "built in" programmable three-button remote piece into his visor, and eh didn't order a new visor, but cut the stock one and installed it.
This could, of course, have changed over time for what is available for the homelink kit.
