cold start up tapping?????

Question cold start up tapping?????

when my truck is cold i get that tapping coming from the bottom end what could it be i have tried all different oils syn/non syn 5/30 10/30 . it goes away when the motor warms up what could it be .it dont last long either thanx later

Piston slap. Once the forged pistons warm up and expand, they stop slapping... If it starts to get louder and takes alot long to go away/ doesn't go away, you have a problem and take it to a dealor.

Was the tapping there when you bought the truck or did it start after the first oil change. If it started after the first oil change, go back several days and you'll see several threads about it.

Mine does the same thing.

The technician at SVT told me that is was normal, unless it gets VERY loud, or doesn't go away when the engine is up to operating temp.
