It seems that the topics on the L are mostly straight line acceleration: 60', 1/8 & 1/4 mile speed and times. Personally I get a charge out of non-believers who don't know or would consider that this pickup truck (yes Virginia of all things its a p/u truck), can outperform their vehicles when cornering and accelerating from a dead stop. I live in a rapidly growing community where I call the traffic: cut-throat. You know the type of people involved--those who have to risk life and limb to squeeze in front of your vehicle instead of dropping back. Most of them don't have a performance vehicle (some do) but they want to see if your sleeping and sneak in front. This is most apparent at one particular stoplight.
Picture this: It is approximately an 1/8 mile to merge onto Hwy 70 eastbound, and you must be in the right lane. However, there is a large radius sweeping left turn w/2 lanes making the turn. The right lane has no trouble getting to the highway, but the left lane has to cut-throat in, drop back, or go straight--thus passing up the turn. If you are first in line at the light be prepared to drop the hammer. Talk about fun. I'm always in the right lane and just have a blast. One morning at 4 am on the way to work, I had a GTP challenge me. We were the only vehicles out at that time and apparently he needed to get around me. NOT!! The light turned green and no way could he get around me (he tried everything, except pushing) so he had to drop behind. He had the advantage with the inside track but the L corners/accelerates so well he never had a snowball's chance. We both got on the highway and he passed me a couple of miles later and wouldn't look at me . I'm actually in no hurry to get to work, but I just can't resist. I know you folks have similar stories.

Don't think that you are alone in your love of the twisty roads. I know of quite a few members here that share our passion for asphalt that isn't a quarter mile long.

Now that my suspension mods are complete, I am looking (no, make that hunting) for the next unsuspecting SS Camaro that sleeps on the poor defenseless pickup truck next to him.

Gatoro you have any info on that Englishtown track?I need to blow some dust off of my Pantera.That sounds like a GREAT place to do it.

 

I had the same thing happen to me with a Fool in a BMW 740iL. I even let him get the jump on me. To make it more fun, I rolled gently into the throttle in 1st and floored it in second. Needless to say, I got the same reaction as you did. They must have been cousins or something.
