Pinion snubber question for Mike

Hi, Mike. We emailed each other a little bit about 6 months ago, introductory stuff. Well, I finally bought something-your pinion snubber. One thing I forgot to ask Anita , who is incredibly nice, btw, is about a 2-inch rear drop and affect on the snubber. Can the snubber adjust for that? And you do have single prog. Superchips for the Lightning, don't you?
Also like to know what you have available as far as pullies go and cost, tho' the New Jersey pulley has to be left out of the equation. Too much compared to others, IMO.
I have a bonus coming in a couple weeks and I want to spend it somewhere.
Also like to thank Marc Carpenter for recommending your snubber. Some things may be old school but they are also tried and true. I used to race a 340 Mopar and lot of Mopar guys were using snubbers.

Thanx
Don

I know it's after the fact but will your pinion adjust for a 2 inch drop?

Hi Don,

I've already responded in the first place you posted this same post, I don't remember which thread you had that in. I respond to these threads in the order they are posted, so if you post the same question in multiple posts, we generally respond only to the first one we see. Just check back in that thread and you'll see the detailed response.

Briefly, yes, you have *plenty* of adjustment range for just about any ride height from stock to a 3 inch drop is no problem, we haven't had an L with a 4" to test.

You're in good shape!

Hey Mike
You have to post some pictures of your pinion snubber over on the Lightning forum.

I see a ton of people buying the truck tracs. I don't think they work that well, and I am sure your snubber system has to be better.

So lets see some pics over on the lightning board.

Thanks

Don

By the way how is your L running?

Hi Don,

It's great to see you drop by here again, & thanks for calling today, sorry I was tied up at the moment!

Our Performance Products pinion snubber is doing a great job, and people are amazed at how well it works. The torque that is wasted trying to twist the body & make the body squat is now harnessed & redirected, used to plant *both* tires into the pavement.

I don't remember if we're allowed to do that, post an ad with a picture of a new product directly, as supporting vendors, it used to be verbotten. I don't even put any of our vehicles pictures in our signature line.

If you'd like to shoot us an email, I'll be happy to respond with a picture of our Performance Products pinion snubber as a return file attachment if you'd like.

Our Lightning is *still* in the body shop, having all of the initial damage that was done to it when originally transported to the dealer and all of the various factory body, trim, windshield & paint problems being taken care of. The front valance was smashed underneath (though you had to look to see it) and the bumper brackets bent from chaining it down too hard on the car carrier, & the fog lights, of course. There were other problems, the windshield had some kind of stain around the border inside and had to be replaced, several dash panels had to be replaced, about half the truck repainted, and so on, grrr.................

This body shop (Beach Ford, Virginia Beach VA) has always taken good care of us, and took care of a number of detailed issues with our other new F-150 a few months ago with excellent results, we're of course very happy with the quality of their work. Enough so that we drove the 600 mile round trip from us to them, so they would do the work instead of a closer dealer. You know how it is when you get comfortable with how someone does their work for you.

Anyway, when we finally get it back from that, we have a number of new changes to be done for this year, and we're way behind, it's been a rough past few months. As soon as we can get that wrapped up, we'll be making it back out to more tracks this year.

Thumbs up Pinion Snubber

Hey Mike,
I just installed your pinion snubber last week and i am very impressed with the traction on the street and the way it installs!By looking at it most definitely will not have to worry about a driveshaft breaking either which was my biggest concern! I cannot wait to try it at the track at the proper setting to watch my 60ft.'s drop! Thanks for the prompt delivery time also!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your post!

Glad to hear you like our pinion snubber, it's an idea whose time has come, to be sure.

This is the first pinion snubber ever designed specifically for the late-model pickup truck, and it's the best way to harness that torque and put it to work *for* you, rather than *against* you, which is why it's so effective. You're going from one extreme to the other, from the torque wasted twisting the body, making is squat and trying to lift one rear wheel is now captured & put to work planting the tires into the pavement.

Thanks by the way, for referring people to us for the pinion snubber, we've had a couple of guys call that you sent out way, and I think one of them ordered a unit.

Have fun at the track, and when you're finished please don't forget to adjust the snubber back up & tighten the locknut again before you hit the road going home! I know that is obvious, but we've had a couple of people who did forget, so I'm just planting the thought..........

Good luck!

Mike,

I believe I need to move this thread out of the Computer Chips forum and to a more appropriate place. I am, however, ignorant to what a "pinion snubber" is, so please recommend a forum.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Good question!

To give you an idea, our pinion snubber is a traction-enhancing type of part, it's related to the suspension in this design purpose, basically.

It is a Lightning-specific part however, so it would be relevant in the Lightning section.

Pinion snubber pics.

I am defiantely at fault for there not being any pictures of the
SN-7950-01 Snubber on this sight yet. I am responsible for
its design and manufacturing and did not really want any
"pictures" of it until I applied through the proper agency to
protect my design and usage intent.
However, I have now recieved the initail protection I need and
between Mike and myself, we should be able to provide the
desired pictures in the near future.
I will first speak to Mike and let him have the oppurtunity to
" unviel " this device as he is the sole distrubutor.

Thanks for your patience,

Marc
