Transport damage on my L, please help!

Hey Guys:

I just got my Lightning on Monday. After some advice from a fellow Lightning owner about how his was damaged while unloading from the transport in '99, I checked under mine, and have the same gouges he did in the bottom of the fascia.

I am going to call the dealer about it tomorrow and I am sure they will be cool about it, but would like to hear anyone's similar stories, just in case.

If you don't have a transport damage story, take a peek under the front fascia on your Lightning. You might be surprised.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

When I bought my L there were four on the lot. Two of the four had damage under the front bumper. We will repaint it ya right. Needless to say I did not take delivery on either one of those two Lightnings. Bob.

Mine didn't have scratches on the ground effects so I lowered it and slowly drove it up to a tall curb. Now it has a few scratches.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, Spike, same here. Pristine off the truck. I'm the one to blame for the bad fascia. Can't see it though, unless you stick your head under there.

Same here great off the truck but scraped the front on a incline. Good thing is once its lowered you really won't be able to see it.

Glad to see some others posted that eventually it gets scratched any way. And the only time you see it is when you wash it...

Hey Steve,

Congrats on your new L. It's always great to see another Mustang guy join the L group.

I'm trying to decide if I want to take my Stang or my L to Corral Day this year. Tough decision!

Larry Turvy.

Same here. I installed the scratches myself. It's a good compliment to the cracked foglight mod.

LX Guy, The dealer was Larry Roesch Ford in Elk Grove IL. But I must say they have a great service dept. Always got everything I need or wanted. Bob

LX and SVTBob,

When I got my L, I looked under all 3 white ones the dealer had. My truck was the only one WITHOUT damage. I did not look under any of the other colors, but I took the one without the damage. This is a pretty common problem, so you shouldn't have any problems with the dealer. If you do, I would be sure to bring it up that this IS a common problem known to happen and that they should fix it. Just my .02!

Mine had two small scratches under the bumper cover but rather than have them repaint it, I decided to live with it. If I had let them paint it, it would have overspray on and underneath the truck. It's not noticable anyway.
