Tranny Fluid
Tranny Fluid
I know there have been alot of question about the factor tech valve body but I have mine and plan on doing the install today(35 degrees). My question is how much tranny fluid do I need for the install. I know i might have to add or in a rare case take some out, but how much should I have on hand prior to the install?
Valve Body & deep pan from PSP- $250.
A case of Transmission fluid (Mercon, not Mercon V)- $14.
The grin on your face after you install the Valve Body- Priceless!!!

I personally am scared to death to put the line valve body in... I heard of people having to replaced their tranny and breaking second gear... is this true.? This seems so common. I would LOVE to be chirp it into second and third!!
If this thing just 'up' the pressure in the tranny, can we also up the tranny fluid pump?
I don't know a whole lot, but I'm trying

Just finish the install about 30 min ago. It only took me about an hour to do the complete install and was very simple. If you know how to turn a wrench you can do it yourself. The only problem is it is a little messy but you can clean that up.
My first impressions are WOW!! At half throtle there is a very sharp jolt on the first to second shift. I have not been able to open her up yet because I am waiting on my personalized plate "TRYAGN" but as soon as its on look out. Right now the truck is stock because I wanted to feel the difference between stock and with a 4lb and chip installed.
As far as the amount of fluid I put back in it was 6 quarts. I need to do some driving because I know that it is low.

There's an interesting write-up on this on www.powersurgeperformance.net/shift.htm by a Ford tranny expert who also sells his own modified valve bodies for the L.

Perfect- thanks DB for the web link. Exactly what I was looking for. Since it's so factory looking, I can't imagine having much trouble with warranty work. Time to pull out the plastic!
Thanks again!

Hey G - I'm on the west side of Cincinnati, currently in the Western Hills area, but moving next week off Bridgetown Rd. (first home I 'own' :-) )
Right by Nick & Tom's <<---- everyone seems to know where this is!
I haven't joined any L clubs, unsure if I'm going to. Feel free to email me if you have any events I could attend. I don't see to many L's running around my part of town (seen maybe 2?)
Off to Work!!
