HI ,all, i remember seeing a thread pertaining to a good way to clear the PCM or on board computer?I thought once you install a chip it sets a code that can not be cleared?this is the issue holding me up from getting a chip?
i purchased a universal warranty for 6 years with the L and would like to beable to use it?the waaranty co. name is universal ,my L had 1800 miles from former owner on it,i guess i could say hey they must have put the chip in?

 

I am a Ford tech and can tell you there is nothing worse then dealing with aftermarket warrentys companys. They are a complete pain in the a** The only extended service contract that is really worth anything is ESP threw Ford Motor Company. Every single time I have to deal with one of these outside warrenty companys all the time and let me tell you its tough. they send adjusters out not to survay damage but to look for any reason to deny the claim. Example customer came into our dealer 95 windstar blown transmission. Her mickey mouse warrenty company denied the claim because she had her trans fluiid changed at 63,000 miles insted of 60,000 .. She ate a 2500$ transmission for being a few thousand miles late. That is complete bullsh*t. Since that event we wont even deal with any of these companys . As far as clearing codes there have been many threads posted on how to delete codes etc. Try all you want usually we can still tell. I would reccomend getting a good relationship wth your dealer. Usually they are cool if you are.But thats just me i have seen some horror storys in here so beware. Feel your dealer out straight out ask them if they will deny claims if you get a chip. Its better to know now then to pay later. hope this helps .

 

THANKS A MILLION lightning00n93cobra i will get rid of the extended warrenty before i have it 60 days = march 7th for my il law = full refund! also thanks for first hand (FACTUAL) info on chip/warrenty issue,it's good to hear from a source that REALLY knows what the low down is.
I really doubt i will do any mods because=
1.too much $$
2.someone will always be faster on any given day!
3.from the HORROR stories i have been reading on multiple boards=f150online, national lightning owners board and the,svtperformance board the more you mod the broker you get and the more the L ends up working>its way to the early grave.
4.why spend 250.00 here 175.00 there to go .5 seconds faster ,when the next guy at the light spent 5000.00 more than you and all you see is his tailights.
5.i made my mind up, i got a little more air coming into my stock box=runs a tad leaner now,and i will spend my $$ on other things such as billet grills and so forth 380 hp /350lbs is plenty for me, besides the guy in that vw beetle beside me may be running twin turbos ,who knows? have a good one ,you will read about my STOCK L for a long time to come =10 yrs at least!!
