a couple of serious questions?
hey all, 2 questions
1.in the midwest we have 10% ethonal /alcohol mix in all our gas above 87% octane as a octane boost, when i have a chip burned for my L ,does the tuner need to no that. i will burn anything from 91 thru 93 %octane gas that has had the corn based alcohol added?
2.how long do the stock belts last on an L without pulleys?
I have finally made my mind up for my mods = cold air kit/street chip/oil breather. i have been told boostbypass is uneeded for this set up?
i just hope this setup will last 6-10yrs, without any major problems?
all the above is refering to a 2001 L.

I was also told I wouldn't need the boost bypass kit with my setup. BS!!! If you take it the track and experience it, you will wish you had the bypass. I ran a 13.5 the first time and a 14.6 the second time. Guess which one the boost dumped on. I do have a flip-chip with a soft street program and a warm weather program. I went to the warm setup the second pass and dumped it. It depends on how aggressive the street program is, mine is very soft for towing purposes. For $25, I wouldn't take the chance of getting beat by a 70's chevy truck that ran a 13.7. I was
#1-YES, tell your tuner about the gas
#2-Don't know, seems like everybody here has a pulley of some sort...but is that a bad thing???

I bought a boost by pass kit, couldn't figure out how to install it, and finally unplugged the electronics and BAM! That's all you need! You will be amazed!

Here's kind of a fuzzy pic(frame from my camcorder). If I remember right you squeeze the top and bottom together to release the plug and pull it out. If you take it in to be serviced plug it back in before you clear the PCM and it will remove the code it gives the computer. Otherwise mine stays unplugged at all times.

Carefull on pulling the plug instead of the boost bypass kit... yes it works... on my 2001 it caused the check engine light to go on and subsequently a code was set.
I am sure this is true for the 2002's also.
I'd do the kit...
I went to the parts store and bought the T connector and hoses and did it my self except I noticed my boost gage went from 10lbs to 8lbs with the change... so I put everything back the way it was...
I've actually perfected my 1st to 2nd gear shift by letting of the throttle ever so lightly and then back into it...
Works for me...

Hey Lightnigrod, are you sure about ALL the gasses over 87% containing ethanol?? The only one that I've noticed is the Sunoco 94. I just had a lengthy discussion with a petro chemist and he told me to search out and use pure hydrocarbon gas. There is none over 87% ????????
hey reality 1 i am in central il ,don't you remember/ cryogenics?
it would be nice if one could always find and use amoco but for (reality)LOL purposes if it comes to all that trouble ,the truck really ain't worth drivin around daily all seasons as my work and play mobile,i drive the truck ,the truck don't drive me!
