I would stick with 5W-20 , use the Motorcraft filter, 6 quarts of oil. Make sure you really fill the filter with oil, you can allmost get a quart of oil into the filter.

Let the dealer do it? Be careful of: mechanic 'test drives', door dings, grease on the interior seats, allowing them to wash a black L, very scarey. I always did myself or brought it to a local mechanic where i stood right next to him. I drove it into and out of the bay. Be careful, its only a virgin once!! Congrats on your new truck.

so i should stand by the tech while he changes my oil. it's that bad, huh? man i thought an oil change would be easy pleasy.

i live in apt and don't have any tools to do it myself or i would. what would be the next best thing: dealer, local mech., etc.?

how do you make sure that it gets 6 qts of oil(w/ 1in the filter). turn her over a couple times and measure or what?

thanks.

All it takes is a 5/8" wrench, an oil filter wrench, a catch pan and a set of rhino ramps. Do it yourself. I live in an apartment as well. By doing it yourself, you can keep an eye on the front end components and you know the job is done right.

I've been using Jiffy Lube for about 12 years, in three different cities. I've never had a problem with them. You can also watch if you like.

what oil would you recommend and where buy?

they say the filter consumes around a quart of oil and the entire change around 6. how do i change oil and not risk too much or too little? it's been a while since i change oil in a car('71 nova) and just want to do it right.

I used Valoline 5W-20 for the first oil changes, the 6 quarts includes the amount you poor into the filter.

So 1 in the filter and 5 in the oil fill on the valve cover.

i'm very stupid. is there a separate opening that you pour the oil for the filter. i thought the oil drained to the filter from where you pour into the value cover.

also, what filter do you recommend?

So, how many of you 01 and 02 owners:

1. did/did not develop the "marble" noise after the first oil change?

2. what oil grade did you use for this change?

3. did you fill your filter before startup?
