Smokin' Time

This is a two part question:

A) when i get my mods completely done in two weeks- TR5's, 4lb pulley, JL chip, JL dual ram air w/ JL air kit what 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile times should i expect on GTII 20's?

B) When i try to do a burnout in my GTII's, my tires don't smoke or squeal. Why not? am i not properly doing a burnout?

is that important? i see no relevance

about B) they squeal depending on the road it is, but they don't smoke like i've seen countless other L's do. I was thinking it was the compound

Dude, all the videos you see of L's smokin' em, they are using the brake in conjuction with the gas peddle to keep them in place and allowing the back tires to spin freely. They will start smoking if let the tires rip long enough.

Try power braking

(Sounds like you are trying to impress the friends...this will eat the tread...so don't do it too much or for long periods of time or you will need to spend some cash on getting new tires)

rhino, that's what i thought but i don't want to wear the brakes doing it. I was under the impression you could lightly smoke them w/o brake modulation but have had no luck. GUYS PLEASE RESPOND TO QUESTION A.....

Some tires don't smoke or squeal.

The Eagles that came on my 91 GT didn't.

But the BFG's I replaced them with howled like crazy and smoked like Cheech and Chong.

Compound might have something to do with it.

I've never tried this, but I've heard of people putting soda pop, or a little bleach mixed with water on the ground and then rolling through it before lighting 'em to make those thick white smoky clouds for magazine shoots.

There's a member named 'SOAP' here who has a pretty good smoke show in his signature, perhaps he could let you in on his secret.

Later,

You'll probably run 12.8 or so, maybe lower depending on traction.
