You haven't said lately whats goin on with your truck since your dealer said they wont replace the engine. I had a couple of ideas they require knowlage of the MOD engines and some spendy tools. I dont know what kind of budget you have but if I had to replace the engine I would look into getting a cheep engine from a junk yard and starting there. I would find one you can turn the crank with a wrench that should be a good indication its in halway good shape. I would take it to a machine shop have cylinders bored and deck checked and milled if needed. SHM or JDM can get you the rods, pistons and fasteners you will need. Hopefully your heads are in good shape so you can reuse them. The only real bitch is getting the engine out and putting the new one in. The only spendy part is the better rods and pistons.
