Talking Head replaced after blown plug

On the 8th, I posted here that I had a plug blow on my 01L.

I just got the truck back today from the dealer, and am happy to say that everything appears to have been fixed. The truck actually came back to me quieter than before as they were able to diagnose and fix a ticking sound that was engine speed-related. It turns out that the blower belt had a small glob of adhesive sticking out that would strike the idler pulleys and tick. A new belt solved that problem.

Anyway, my truck was fixed under warrantee and I did not have my powertrain warrantee voided despite having my JDM parts on the truck when it was towed it to the dealer. They had to remove and reinstall those parts in order to perform the work, which included my shorty Bassani header. This dealership Landmark Ford in Tigard, OR) is extremely cool.

A bunch of days were lost because they broke some of the graphite header gasket inserts when they removed the header from the head. I had to have Bassani drop ship replacement gaskets to the dealer.

Another bunch of days were lost because the cam timing was off on the affected side (off by a tooth on the chain) so they had to take the front of the motor back apart to fix that.

All in all I'm very happy with the results, and was glad to be able to turn the Taurus rental car back in!

If you're a local and have to service your L, take it to Landmark and see Mike Walker on the red team.

I'm surprised they remembered the oil galley plug. That is were most of the mechanics go wrong from what I hear.

Thumbs down

This happened to me this morning. Started up from a light and all of a sudden it sounded and felt like I was driving a dodge. I pulled over, popped the hood, and spotted the dislodged coil pack right away. The spark plug was nowhere to be found.
Good thing it happened now, only 5400 miles left on the warranty. The tow truck driver said this wasn't the first L he's towed after launching a plug.

Are these on the passenger side? The same side they have the oil leaks?
